With 3.42 gears, you're going to require a little more clutch finessing at stop signs and red lights in order to get rolling. If you go with shorter gears, remember that the higher the ratio (4.10) will be the more prone to breakage. And the lower the ratio (3.42) will be the need for more clutch slippage getting away from stop signs and red lights.
In my experience GM cars, especially the WS6's with more power, have inadequate clutches and rearends to handle the power. They have the weakest clutches and rearends of any of the pony cars, so beware.
Good luck and happy motoring.

I couldn't agree more with davidws6. I have a trickflow cam .228/.232, .595/.595 installed in a 98 ws6 with 4.56 9-inch. Even with 4.56 gears, the car bucks like a rodeo bull. But if you're a poser (like me) the bucking will be bragging rights at the local car shows and drive-ins. It's a definite head turner. LOL

The 224/230 111 LSA has only 5* positive overlap. Piece of cake to tune in the hands of a capable tuner.
Please research some more to understand cam dynamics.
Also that cam will run good with 3.42s

Or go to TSP and spend about $75 less for a very similar custom cam.
That's what I did(227/231, 111lsa+2 with Comp LSL lobes).![Nod](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_nod.gif)

I agree that the cam will definitely run with the 3.42s. And will probably be better with the 3.42s at the strip. My cam red-lines at 6,800 and power peaks at 4900. The torque line is almost flat. The most of my driving pleasure is in the street (red light-to-red light). I get to the track only 2-3 times a year. For my driving preferences, my 4.56s are more suitable than the 3.42s.
3.42s can't touch the 4.56's hole shot when using stickies.
BTW; I went through 2 GM 4.10s before I went to the Moser 9-inch with detroit locker.

Bucking? Are you kidding when you imply that you've never experienced this phenomenon? If I allow my car to coast in 3rd or 4th at an rpm less than 1.5k-2K, it will jerk and lunge radically as if I were patting the gas pedal in rhythm with the beat of a song.
In my opinion, several things contribute to this phenomenon. LSA, overlap, and amount of advance in the cam timing.
All my comments on this thread are based upon my personal-non-professional opinion. feel free to correct any comment found to be inaccurate.

I know you guys are probably tired of seeing threads like this but In my case is different, speciallly in another country.
I'm a soldier currently stationed in Germany and I have a 2002 manual WS6, my only mods are K&N FIPK
I bought comp cams 7.400 pushrods and Patriots dual springs with locks and seats, planning to get a pulley, lifters and timing chain. I want to buy a cam that is mean in the street and give me all the hp/torque I can get with stock heads and manifolds with a flowmaster muffler, if I can get to the 400s it would be better, I dont want to buy heads or headers, I only drive my car like 2 miles a day to work, Im planning on mailing my pcm cause theres not tuning in here, Ive read about the EPS 224/230 111 lsa and the CheaTR cam, is there any other toughter cam out there for MY SET UP? I want to be able to sweep some BMWs and GTIs up here with just a CAM. PLEASE HELP ME! I would really appreciate it.

226/230 .609/.590 114+4 LSA, that will be easy to tune with mail order tune.
Without headers:
226/238 .609/.602 115+5 LSA

Theres no need to pay 450+ for a cam.

ThanX. This thing would definitely be more fun on the street if it were easier to handle. Cruizing on the street at 2k rpm with LT's and a loudmouth1 can sometimes make me uncomfortable when I on the same block with a Mr Policeman.
I'm gonna start looking for a new tuner
