Default Getting a lq!!!

Ok everyone I am getting a great deal on a lq4 with 218,000 on it... What should i do with it? Just got done building my ls but this is such a good deal i cant pass it up and it will give me something to do this winter.

I am on kind of a tight budget so what would everyone suggest i do with it?

I am thinking i might save up for a 408 rotating assembly or just rebuilding with some forged rods and pistons, slapping my 799 heads on it along with my cam and some go go juice.

Or should i just do new bearings and rings, forget about the forged stuff and do the same as above?

Everyone is saying i should put down close to 400 with my ls1 n/a setup and if i am gonna go through the rebuild process again i would like more power.

It wont be a good deal after you get done rebuilding it....I would pass on any engine w/ that mileage regardless of the price

Its an iron LS1 with a larger bore. Any mod you do to a LS1 will transfer over (barring pistons)

Rebuild it and rock it, about all there is to it

Would i gain very much buy rebuilding it and swapping over all my stuff from my ls to this motor? Maybe throw a set of forged pistons in and put a big shot of nitrous to it?

No such thing as an "iron LS1". Its an LQ(4 or 9), no more, no less. But yes, majority of Gen 3 v8 parts are interchangeable.

Don't worry about mileage, rebuild parts are not that pricey. Replacement pistons and rings less than 500$.
If it's running and doesn't have any weird problems, it's a hell of a deal. For 300$
My dd truck has no issues and got bout 340k on the stock iron block 4.8.

That was my thought, I might just pull the trigger and do a 370 turbo or nitrous motor or if I decied to I might do a 408 nitrous motor

Quick question if a ls and a lq4 has the same exact mods doe to them how of a gain would you see with the lq and also how much of a gain would you see going from a stock cube lq 4 to a 370

He was asking what from his LS1 would swap over, so call it what you will its pretty much an iron version of the LS1. I know full well none of the production LS1s were iron
