1.8 harlan sharp roller rockers and cam choice
got a good deal on a set of 1.8 harlan sharp roller rockers. a few people iv talked to have been saying to get raid of them and run stock stuff. why is this? i know factory is 1.7 ratio. what will i have to do to beable to run these with out destroying my motor? will i have to buy a special cam to beable to run these?

when i say example i mean numbers and lift ect of a cam. im new to the ls1 stuff. i was thinking a 234 236 .575 .575 with the 1.8s. would this be to much for the 1.8s? i have a 8in 4200 converter and a 350th its going behind.

imo the 1.8 should be fine on the stock cam...most ls1 have 1.6 and the ls6 have 1.7...the only difference that it makes is how long ur valves stay open...if u had a 234 236 .575 .575 with a 1.7 then when u change to a 1.8 the numbers would just go up a few points... the new lift would be .609 .609...and if it was a 1.6 and u went to a 1.8 the new lift would be .647...which means u would need some springs...and if ur runnin upgraded springs and rockers u should run a new cam to make sure u dont get cam wear from too much pressure on the lobes....this is the advice i got before when i was going thru this

LS motors have 1.7 stock from LS1 to LS2
What you have to watch for using 1.8s are the ramp rate and lift. Use low ramp rate lobes.
Exemple like Comp XE low lift can handle that rate.
