Default What gasket should I use for LS6 heads on a 97 C5?

I know that I need graphite gaskets b/c my heads are O-ringed. The factory gaskets that came off the car were graphite but in lthe newer models, they changed to a multi layer steel. Should I use the old style gaskets, if I can still find them? The number on the gaskets is a GM12551419 which I can't seem to find. They probably discontinued it and was replaced with the new style gasket. BTW I will be using nitrous as my power adder.

Also one other question....Why do the factory gaskets have recessed areas around the water jackets except for one small pin hole. It seems to me that they would match the ports of the water jacket. Obviously more coolant could flow through the engine. My only conclusion was so that it would keep the pressure up in the coolant system.

Thanks
