Hole in block. Ideas on what to do?
So i wake up this morning thinking i was going to leave my buddy's house and go home. I get in my car, crank it, and hear what sounds to be a large amount of loose metal in my engine. Not a good sign. I push it forward, and find a large puddle of oil on the ground with chunks of aluminum in it.
So my question is. What Should i put back in the car? Im definitely going to upgrade. Should i go built Ls1? Ls6? Lq9 iron block? Also needs to be done between 4-5 grand.
Any input from someone thats done an engine swap or ground up rebuild would be very helpful.

My cousin got a 427 shortblock from schwanke shortblocks for under 4 grand. You could slap your top end on there and make decent power and run it until you get the heads and intake you really want. Good luck with your build, I know the feeling.

Yes that is exactly what happened. I have no clue how or what would make it happen. It ran perfectly the night before, and in the morning it just **** on itself.

When I was thinking my motor was ruined I did ALOT of shopping around. In my opinion Schwanke and AES has the best iron block pricing with Schwanke only using LY blocks (added conversion cost) while you can still get LQ stuff from AES. For aluminium blocks i thought Scoggin has the best deal on aluminum GEN lV stuff as their pricing on the performance series (402, 416 and LS7 427) come with the conversion items included in the price. I also think Texas Speed has great pricing as well with alot of options as far as components go. If you just want to slap her back together and drive.... hit up Craigslist for a nice pullout LS1. However, any of the sponsors on here will do right by you and can get the job done nicely. Pick one that is local and watch that wallet burn baby
