Default Patriot spring install, major snag

On top of everything else that's gone wrong today, I didn't realize the Patriot springs required special valve seals.

My ls6 heads have a one peice seal/base that the patriot springs wont even slide over.

My springs that I picked up secondhand did not include the seals. Can these be obtained from the dealer or what?

You can find these as an option at the auto parts stores if you want to buy them locally.

Nope ... the dealer will only have the one piece OEM seals. You're going to have to go aftermarket for them, and they will be the ones that just slide over the top of the valve guide. You should also have new spring seats too since the guide seals you need will not have the built in spring seat like the OEM seals have.

I have the steel seats and titanium retainers, just no seals.

01SSreda4: thanks, you don't happen to know a part number do you? can check oreilleys and az, parts plus was already checking for me so they might be able to get them

also measure the ID of your steel seats and make sure they are not for the larger bronze guides... i bought my spirngs, seat and retainers secondhand and the seats were for the bronze guides, so now im shopping for the correct size steal seat/locators... stock is .505" larger bronze is .56x" ID

If they are stock heads, the older (pre-2002) GM valve seals will work. I have had issues with aftermarket coming off of the guides so tend to stick with OEM for valve seals. You can also contact Patriot and just order the seals by themselves.

Do the older factory seals have seats attached? I'm already at 1.785" install height so I don't think I want them on there.

Thanks in advance

old cam is out, 8 dead lobes and 4 are severely deep

car should run better than 111mph with the new setup I think haha

No, the one piece seal/seat was introduced in 2002.
