Default trutorq cams

I was wondering if anyone had an opinion on the thunder racing trutorq cams? I dont see them mentioned here that much. I am currently in the parts buying process for a head and cam swap on my 00 C5/MN6. I already have a LS6 intake, long tubes, 243 heads, and patriot gold dual springs. I just need to decide on the cam. The car is a daily driver so a smooth idle is important. I was thinking either the TSP 228R on a 114LSA or the level 3 trutorq which is 223/236 .612/.610 115 LSA. Looking for low end and mid range since that is where I spend all my drive time.

heard some good things about the trutorq cams making around 400-420 and they drive like stock

nice,
their website says 1800-6800 rpm powerband. i just wonder if any flycutting will be necessary. i plan on milling the heads.

You just don't need the wide of a split with your long tubes, 243 heads.

That level 3 trutorq cam would be better suited with a stock manifold/exhaust car.
IMO, a 223/227 113lsa (w/lsl lobes) cam would be a better "low end and mid range".
Another good option would be a 227/227 114lsa (w/lsl lobes).

The EPS 222/226 113lsa cam is another good choice!

How does the 228R fit into that mix? It seems smaller but I have read thread after thread where people swear by it.

As long as I can get the magic 400 rwhp and still have something that I dont have to wind out to get any power I am happy so any of the cams that will do this is fine by me.

The 228/228 114lsa cam is a good choice, but the 227/227 114lsa with the lsl lobes will make more power than the 228 with xer lobes. Call up TSP they can get you a custom cam with the better lsl lobes.

good to know, what is the lift on that 227/227 cam? any chance on flycutting?

Lift is .614", if that's more lift than you want to run I'd also consider the LXL lobes in a 226(.605")/226(.605") 114 lsa or a 226(.604")/230(.609") TSP has those lobes also.

BTW,I run a 227/231 111lsa+2 w/lsl lobes w/unmilled 205s and gm mls head gaskets, and no fly-cutting was needed.

Correction the LXL lobes are not EPS cam lobes, there similar with just a little more lift.
