Default WS6 seems like it is losing a lot of power and cuts out

Picked up a 99 WS6 the other day for a good price because it was cutting out pretty good. I replaced all of the 02 sensors because it had a check engine light and autozone said all four were bad. I also removed the stock cats and they were empty. Nothing inside them. I also put a SLP lid on it. The previous owner had new plugs and wires put in it before I purchased it. I also put a new wix fuel filter in it. Any ideas on what the issue might be? Feels like it has 180 hp and cuts out some on full throttle.

I went to check the maf and the screen is missing. Is it possible that this was damaged from the previous owner when the screen was removed?

desreening the MAF is a typical free mod. I dont think removing the screen would have damaged the sensor, did you see anything wrong with it ? spray the sensor with mass air cleaner, they can get dirty or if you have a oiled filter the oil can set on the sensor.

Yikes, feels like a 180HP car?

My first car, wasn't a Camaro or Firebird, but when accelerating it would sort of hesitate, you had to really nail it to get it to move, and even then it would resist. Finally found out the hesitation was the plugs. The plugs were all clean, nothing wrong with them...but the previous owner had put the wrong plugs in there!

Also, I would check the fuel injectors. Had a friend who had similar problems with his LS1 Vette, the thing felt weak. His fuel injectors were bad, fixing those fixed his problem.

Same problem here.

I cleaned the TB, did a new fuel filter, air filter, plugs n wires, cleaned the MAF (no descreening for me yet)

it's still a dog. But it's less of a dog. Closer to 200whp now.

i got a fuel pressure gauge on the way, I have some hesitation/skipping any time it's under load (passing in a high gear, more than half throttle.. at all..) that I'm trying to peg down. Reminds me of my old ford 5.0 (explorer..) that did this. The skipping under load was a bad plug wire in that case, but may be a coil in my current setup... or injector.. or pump.

So.. if you haven't already, get some B-12 chemtool, pop off the TB and clean it up. Chances are you've got funk on the backside of it that can cause air flow turbulence, limit airflow, cause the TB to stick closed etc.

also, I wouldn't trust the previous owner. He probably has autolite plugs in there. Get some NGKs.

Were you ever able to fix your car and bring it back to life?

pending fuel pressure gauge to find the problem with cutting out.

Still working on replacement engine. the power/cost ratio is always off.

trying to salvage the Ls1 as a driver until then.

It's REALLY unpredictable. It broke the tires loose the other day at a redlight. spun for 2 seconds. I punched it to try to edge through a merge lane ahead of a dodge sprinter van. I didn't think it would do that.. it's never done it before.

What are the codes?????? Not just "oxygen sensor code" We need the actual code so we can help. Not another damn thing should be done until you have the codes. Autozone shouldn't have sold you four sensors, as it almost NEVER the case that four go out at once. My stab in the dark is blown intake gaskets causing a lean condition or misfire. But again, CODES.

I'm also wondering what you mean by there was "nothing in the cats" but that wouldn't have anything to do with reduced power. However, that would explain why AZ sold you at least two of those 02 sensors.....
