07 4.8L 862 heads crank bent worth fixing?

07 4.8L 862 heads crank bent worth fixing?
I have a 07 .8L ou of a express van 24x igntion motor 20,000 kms LS2 intake SSR throttle body, headers.
Since the crank is bent and the bllancer is brocken ( I hit a tree) I was thinking of getting 5.3L crank and rods, but will that along with the 4.8L flat-top pistons and 862 heads have to much compression? Will the 4.8L pistons require a 5.3L crank to be ballenced?
Someone said the 4.8L pistons are the same part number as the L33 5.3L what is that that magic part number?
Is the L33 crank ballenced differently then a standard 5.3L crank?
All 4.8, 5.3, 6.0 truck ballencers seem to be the same?
Maybe I should scrap this motor and by 5.3L low miles for 1200.00 ?

LOL You may want to invest in some driver's ed. Trees dont just jump out in front of you like a deer!
Seriously, though. What are you wanting to stick the engine in? You could pick up a low mile 4.8l or 5.3l for what you would have to pay in parts to even get that engine back in service. Crank, pistons/rings, gaskets, machine work, balancer..... Heck that engine may have more damage to it than you think. CRACKS CRACKS CRACKS. They aren't designed to be flung up against a tree then goto an immediate stop. Neither is your body man! Next time, TURN!

It was a 2004 regular cab Colorado with a V8 swapped into it. The truck will be scraped I will most likely get a 2011 Colorado reg cab 4cyl 5spd, and swap my 4.8L into it. Or another engine.
I want a motor with less then 30,000 kms on it.
Used crank 100 turn it 165 used rods 40 recon 80.00 lower gasket set bearings etc.. 150.00 ballancer 85.00.
But I wanted to no weather it needs to be balanced? I would reuse my 4.8L pistons?
Otherwise I might just replace the 4.8L crank wiht a 4.8L crank.. I am on a tight budget!

4.8l has the same bore as a 5.3l. Difference is the stroke (crank). There are multiple versions available for different compression ratios (engine rpo code will need to be utilized to find correct version).
Don't forget you will need full set of topend gaskets too! I still think you would be money ahead getting a used low mile 5.3L. But you using kilometers in your speed gauging tells me you must no be in the U.S. so this may be harder for you to achieve economically...on the cheap.

I also know people have used the 4.8L flat top pistons wiht the 5.3L rods and crank to raise compression, when swapping to the favored 799 casting heads simular to the LS6 heads. The 799 heads have more volume , but the chamber is larger, than the 862 heads. So when you put the 799 heads on 5.3L dished psitons compresion drops, unless you put flat top pistons in.
The problem is that no one seems to know weather installing the heaver 4.8L pisotn will require the crank to be reblannced, which can cost alot.
I can get a 5.3L for 800 wiht 30,000 kms but it will cost at least 400.00 to ship it plus boarder fees and taxes putting the total price close to allmost 1500.00
So the big question is can I rebuild what I have for less then 1500.00?

Now the 799 heads are suppsoed to come on a 2005 and up motor?? Well I have a 2007 4.8L and it has 862 heads so WTF?
I bet the LM7 has 709 or 862 heads as well. Someone was wrong wiht the 799 being on the 05 and newer motors? Unless the menat to say L33, as it should definately have 799 heads.
I can get it wiht the heads but he wants about 400.00 more would be worth it if they are 799 heads. If they aren't then I can run my 862 heads on the 5.3 for now right? I can't afford 799 heads.

FWIW I believe 5.3 crank and rods would yeiled around 9:9.1 L33 specs.

I think the vin # will only show what power plant was in the vehicle as a complete unit. When searching for a motor, you'll most likely have to ask what numbers are on the head if you're looking specifically for 799's.

there is a 5.3L LH6 out of a 2005 envoy, these are the early Gen IV aluminum blocks wiht 24x igntion and a 1x cam on the front cover. Do they have flat top pistons?? I am pretty sure they have the 243 heads on them.

Sorry, I don't know specifics on the early aluminum 5.3. For 300.00 I would try to find a running 5.3, may cost a little more but, you'll know you're starting with. 300.00 for motor, 125.00 to turn crank(if it is usable), re-sizing rods(not sure on cost), gaskets, new head bolts, freshen heads 2-300.00 at best, blah, blah, blah. It adds up fast, and you'll still have a 4.8 Probably did not want hear that but, put it on paper and decide.
Here is what I found out LH6 have the 799 heads, flat top pistons.. actually the same part number as my 4.8L pisotons. So usining the LH6 crank rods would net me a 5.3L that would not need to be ballanced.
If my LR4 block is fine, I'd use it, and not hone it beacuse I will use the rings, and psiotons from it.
165 grind crank
450.00 freshen heads
120.00 resize rods, and check for twist
95.00 hot tank block and remove cam bearings
75.00 crack check block
80.00 install cam bearings
450.00 gaskets new head bolts, and bearings
150.00 LS6 camshaft and springs used
90.00 7.425 push rods
300.00 core 5.3L
-100.00 sell 5.3 intake
-75.00 sell front cover rear cover oil pan from 5.3
-50.00 scrap 5.3 block and 4.8l crank
-LS2 intake, 88 mm thottle body free salvaged from my wreck
-long tube headers, from wreck free.

All disasembly resembley done by me using a digetal KD torque wrech with angle meter... 3 years in small engine repair..3 years in High preasure compressor repair..10 years working on cars non professionally. Profesional Tune using HP tuners, on a dyno.
I'm looking to make 340 HP and 350 ft/lbs at the crank for around $2000.00
I am considereng getting the cylenders honed and replacing the rings for an extra $$

total $275.00 just seems crazy when the motor only has 20,000 kms on it. If only I knew the blcok wasn't cracked then I'd just change the rods and crank. Heads.
