Where do you connect mechanical oi pressure gauge?
Where do you connect the mechanical oil pressure gauge? Is there a spot by the oil filter? I originally thought to put it where the sending unit is but thats a pain.

Yes, just above the oil filter is a port which can be removed, then drilled out to accommodate an npt fitting. Some mechanical gauges come with poly line, which connects to this fitting. Try to avoid poly line, as it can collapse and be spit out under pressure and cause a leak. Under 40-50 lbs pressure, one can lose 2 quarts of oil in no time. (how do I know this?). The alternative is a copper tubing kit from Jegs or Summit.

I know my local large auto parts chain sells the copper tubing kit 4 about $11 . How do I know ? You probably are'nt asking , I was repairing my neighbors heat pump and being an old goettl unit it had 5 copper tubes (capillary tubes) with .065" inner diameter which were clogging so I bought 2 of the copper tubing kits which have an ID of .08somethng so I did the math and used 3 of the larger tubes and the unit has never run better and I still have the old tubing which I will use for my mech oil press gauge . And yes , at least on the truck pan there is the piece the prev poster described that is held on with 2 bolts that You drill and tap and the tubing kits have 2 or 3 different fittings 1 of which is 1/8" npt ,,,,,,,,,,very common tap at just about any hardware store . Also my personal preferance is to use either yellow or pink teflon tape with these brass fittings ,,,,,,,good stuff .

It screws right on and gives two locations for the sensor, and two for an oil cooler. If you don't want a oil cooler, buy 2 plugs and cap the holes.

No taping-- No-nothing. Just take off your oil filter, screw-on the adapter, thread your sensor in, screw on your oil filter. There is room for 4 sensors/lines, oil pressure, oil temp, (1/8" NPT so buy sensors in that size). The other one adds ports for an oil cooler.

Sorry if I didn't read something. I'm anxious because this is my last step before having to replace bearings and yank my motor out.

I think of all the threads/holes I've tapped in My life (n I've tapped ALOT) that was the easiest 1 . It's aluminum so I just drilled an 1/8" hole through to connect the oil to the line to the gauge and part of the hole larger to tap with the very common 1/8" NPT tap . It took about 5 min. and the brass fitting threaded in very tight . But there are other options and no 1 option is really right or wrong just some ways better than others ,,,,,all personal opinion ,,,,anyway ,,,good luck .

I don't think that will work for me actually. I know that my filter has different threads than the stock pan. The AC Delco PF46 stock filter doesn't work.
Doesn't matter though. I'm going to tap above the oil filter for my mechanical gauge.
