383 stroker ls1 build questions.

Default 383 stroker ls1 build questions.

dropped my ls1 off at the machine shop last week.

after him going through everything I have 2 broken pistons 2 out of round rods and 2 bent ex valves and the crank needs to be turned...

he's giving me a hell of a deal on a whole rotating assembly using a 4" stroke.

so far I have a vortech supercharger, compression will be 8.7:1 using stock heads and intake.

crank rods and pistons are going to be scat and no nitrous.

everything sound good so far?? any suggestions on what cam to run and also how much boost??

this is my first ls1 build so anything is greatly appreciated!!!

running a v-9 G trim.

compression ratio can be changed and cam is not picked out yet

is this a street setup? or track? id run 9.5-10.0 compression and keep the boost moderate.

its still going to be kept as a street car. Heads will stay stock for now. 6 months down the road ill proably go with some afr heads. I was told earlier that the v9 g trim wont put out a decent amount of boost and to stay around 9-10 lbs of boost and keep the compression around 9.7:1 to 10:1 But the only problem with that is that ill have all forged internals so it gives me the option to up the boost....

decisions decisions....

and then to top it off.... what cam to run?

and also, who's gonna be able to tune it?

i have been looking at the same type a build shopping prices parts ect...
about the rotating assembly i would recommend callies ..
a few guys i kno are running callies are higher priced than scat but good product ... same thing i am doing a 383 on my ls6... spend a few more bucks if you can and get some quality parts...
about the blower cam i cannot give advice im a N/A guy ... so
someone with some blower experience can chime in on a cams profile
for the blower set up...
good luck on your build... let us kno how much more power the extra cubes give you ...

that is about the only thing i am curious about HOW MUCH MORE POWER will the extra cubes provide????

ya i guess time will tell...

I figured more people would have some advice but i guess i'm kinda shooting in the blind here!

I ended up going with 9.7:1 ratio. hopefully with 11 lbs of boost that will work good.

Im intrested in what pulley combos it takes to make what boost #'s with your setup. Im looking at cams n heads but want to make sure this lil blower is up to the task for now.

well per the specs the v9 will put out a max of 14 psi.

I will have to play around with pully sizes to achieve 11 lbs but we shall see....

Thats somewhat misleading, I think Its the CFM that matters. It probably would make 14lbs on a Jetta VR6 but with a stock pulley mine did 6lbs with full exhaust. Stepping it up to a near max rpm pulley combo, it makes 9lbs now and thats gonna be about what it will do unless I have been mislead, but ???

some afr's will come later... budget cant afford it yet.

hopefully I can get more than 9psi... cfm is only 825.

I hope i'm going in the right direction with this build at least

I'd build it towards 10:1 compression. The 383 is a great engine. Mine seems absolutely bulletproof. If I could do it again, I'd do it the same.

i'm rebuilding it because number 1 cyl and number 7 cyl broke... sooo i'm gonna have to say not bullet proof...
