Default SLP Double Roller Timing Chain & Oil Pump

I know SLP isn't generally regarded as the greatest...

Does anyone know if their double roller timing chain is basically a Cloyes Double Roller? And is the Oil Pump a flash-removed LS6 pump or what?

They have them on special & if they are good parts I think I'm going to pick them up. (doing a cam change soon and my 2000 Oil pump is acting a little odd occassionally)

As I understand it the SLP has Rollmaster stamped on it and a ported oil pump has not only the flash removed but areas enlarged.

Default slp timing chain

i bought the slp timing chain and as soon as you open it you'll see you just bought the rollmaster double w/heat treated gears and the premium chain.a few of our sponsors carry the same part for less than the slp chain goes for it's a great piece but the only thing slp about it is the name it's sold as.the timing set and instuctions say rollmaster, very well made by the way.

Thanks! The double wasn't a problem to fit? (I see it includes spacers)...

SDPC has the double roller for $65...looks the same as the $150 SLP one.

Might as well do the pump while you are in there....

Better research this forum for installation regarding the double roller. I haven't done one yet but I read that you want to not bolt up the pump but bolt up the pick up tube first, then slide in the spacers and bolts up the pump. This way you ensure you get the pick tube in with a good seal first.

BB is right, it's a tricky job to get the oil pump back on with the tube and all....

I disassembled my oil pump because it gave more room to wiggle it around the crank. Then I just put the 2 gears back in it, put the cover on, and it was fine...there's really nothing to the oil pumps, just 2 gears....cant really mess anything up in there...

damn...thats a pretty good idea......

SLP = Rollermaster at higher retail cost. I have the $85 SDPC (has the roller bearing on the back of the cam gear) and have been running it for over 25K miles. Its still as tight as the day I put it on (NO SLOP).

Get a PORTED oil pump (one that actually has the inlet and outlet opened up). It will give you much better oil flow.

good question....I port my own so wouldn't really know...

whatever company you want to get it from, just as them:

a) are they PORTED
b) that they are NOT shimmed (do not want the bypass spring shimmed)
