Low lift, greater duration cam for a 427
I like the idea of keeping lift low for better valvespring life and stability.
Any ideas for a great street cam for a 427, relatively low lift (under .600") but utilizing duration to make more power? MN6, full interior, A/C, etc. A street car in the truest sense

Cams have taken off by leaps and bounds this last year, my old 230/238 is just a baby. So with the new TRex v2 in a 346 (242.9/248.9 on my card) does this mean 260's and 270's on big bores and strokers? It wouldn't surpise me to see someone trying these. It doesn't seem like research is directed as much towards the bigger cubes as it is the 346. I think as more big cube engines start appearing in cars the research will start to shift alittle. Just remember what you buy this year will be a runt next year. I think it'll be tough to decide, good luck with your decision.

We are currently building a C5r 427 bottom end for a customers 02z06. I wanted to originally go N/A but now he wants boost. Whats the point here? I too think keeping the cam around .595 with around 250/260 on a 115. That will let the 330 cfm heads do their job, wont have to spin over 6800 and should make killer power. Cams are the hardest decision in all motor builds. Heads are a close 2nd!
N/A would have been solid roller, .650 lift with 260ish/270ish on a 108 or so. Maybe next time!

Just a FYI, we spec'd a cam with Cam Motions with those exact number goals in mind. That duration on a 114-115 lsa will cause it to rev much higher than 6800, or at least Cam Motions told us that. With those goals in mind we ended up with a high 230s/mid 240's cam with just under .600 lift, on a 114lsa. This is on an LT1 though, but I can't imagine it making a huge difference.

I was told by a tech at comp cams that lift has more effect on HP then duration. He said duration changes the powerband, The more duration the higher in the rpm range the powerband becomes. Please no flames this is just what i was told.
