Stock LS6 heads, and a 228/228 cam would work really well with bolt ons. It would most likely put you closer to 400rwhp.

In my auto LS1 WS.6, I had the 224R(224/224) from TSP, with nothing more than a lid, ported throttle body, Stock Manifolds/Cats, SLP Y-pipe and Catback, it made 350/352 UNLOCKED.

That may not seem like much to some, but when you consider that was through an an otherwise stock long block, unlocked converter, and doesnt even have headers, I wasnt dissappointed.. Oh, and it passed Cali smog no problem.

whats your budget? will help us determine what you should get.

but you could stick with a stock casting 243 head and a good came with new springs, and ls7 lifters for 1500 bucks probably but you could go with a set of ported heads for about 2500 or less.

but even with stock 243s and a cam you could see 430hp easily once you get some long tubes and a good exhaust

give pat g a shout he'll hook you up with a cam that is going to be right for your needs, and dont worry about just sound that 240 will sound amazing with the ls1, ricers wont know what hit them. and dont be surprised if you end up making more than 375rwhp with the 243 heads, custom cam, headers and intake.

I have seen a few LS6 block f-bodies w/stock 243s w/upgraded springs, Longtube headers, an aftermarket lid, LS6 intake and a mild cam that is in 22X's or 23x's hit 410-430 rwhp.

I estimate as long as the your block is good you will meet your goal without a cam.

What kind of exhaust are you going to run? Will it have long tube headers, or shorties, or stock manifolds? if you are goin with shorties or stock manifolds, you probably should look at reverse split cams, or something like the CHEATR cam from thunder racing. These type of cams are designed to work well with manifolds or shorties. Like said earlier, it doesnt take much to get to 375rwhp, especially with better heads like 243's.

The OP could easily eclipse his goal with an EPS 226/230 cam, springs, push
rods, ls2 chain, and a decent tune. I assume headers w/o cats.

FWIW here i made 373rwhp before my cam with a bone stock LS2 with a cold air intake, headers, no cats and a cat back and my own tune with EFI live....its really easy to make that level power with these cars.....

Sorry to hijack your thread but I am looking at having my 241 heads done up at AI and with thear cam and port work on the intake they say I could make 470 at the wheel pretty easily. Agree or dissagree?

agree............stock 243s and an ai 226/234 mild lobe made 422rwhp through an IRS 18" wheel GTO........with a more agressive cam and ported heads its absolutly possible
