Default Cam retainer plate broke

Any one ever heard or seen this, only had five miles on motor, and motor is now junk

This is the older style plate with older style bolts not the countersunk ones

Wow...never seen that! Did you shave the bolt heads? If so, are there marks on the back of the cam gear?

I have seen this before when either someone did not tighten the cam retainer bolts and they backed out and hit the timing gear or there was not enough clearance between the gear and the bolts.

Some aftermarket timing sets need to be checked for clearance.

The bolts look like that from the back of cam gear hittin them and its all stock timing gears
Maybe I tightened the retainer bolts too tight and broke it idk

Looks like thebbolts were torqued to much

Torque for the old-style camshaft retainer bolts are 18fts
