Should I be concerned with my oil pressure? Here in the last few months, my cars oil pressure has been steadily rising it seems like. Don't get me wrong, the car has always had great oil pressure since I bought it brand new back in August of 00', but it has since increased ever so slightly over the years. Now, it has 78K miles on it.
Here's the reason I ask. Just cruising around town, 5th gear, approx. 1800 rpm's, I've got a solid 60 psi. When I go WOT, I've seen as high as 72 psi! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" /> Is this something to worry about? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" /> I've heard that when our oil pumps are getting close to going out, they start pumping out at a higher pressure. Is that true, or just some lame rumor?
