Default Which valve springs?

I bought a cam off a member on here and I'm a little confused on which springs to get with it. It's an eps cam and the lift is 601/603, the car has 107,000 on the clock so I'm thinking I should change the retainers, seats, locks etc..? I was looking at the pac 1518 and they reuse all the factory stuff, but should I trust it? Or should I just order say a prc spring kit and be done with it?

The 1518 will be fine. Any other mods done? How high do you have the rev limit set to?

Mods are in my sig. I don't have the cam in yet, but I was thinking about 6200 for the rev limit.

Should I change the locks, retainers, and stuff or will I be ok?

The stock hardware will work but it wouldn't be a bad idea to upgrade to a stronger lighter retainer.

Yeah as long as they are designed for a spring with a .650 ID at the top.

I would personally switch to machined keepers as well, which aren't that expensive.

Comp 918s would also work great here. I run them on most of my street builds, I also like Comps Tool Steel retainers(1772-16), better than their Titanium counterparts.

Ti wears over time and the Tool steel doesnt. I install tool steel retainer in EVERY engine build where the builder can afford the extra coin.

I weighed them all;

OEM Steel beehive retainers 12g
Tool steel retainers 7g
Titatnium Retainers 6g

I was considering the 918's. I was thinking that maybe the 1518's would be a bit overkill and I could save myself some money by going to the 918's. Is there a kit I can buy with the tool retainer? I've been looking and only been able to come up with the kits with 600 lift

26918TS-KIT. Good to .625 lift. Although this kit is a complete valvespring kit, and cost more.

I personally just ordered 26918-16 springs & 1772-16 retainers, then reused my OEM locks and seats.

Without trying to hijack too bad, my cam has a .623 lift... Should I go ahead and get springs rated to .650 or just go with some for a .625?

.625 would be better IMO, two reasons;

1. Everyone builds a safety net into their quoted lift limit.
2. Typically deflection causes you to loose some lift.

For example; I ran my 918s on my .621" lift cam and had to shim every single one between .015-.060" to get them where I wanted them.

Use what spring the cam lobes are designed around/called for for BEST results.

I am sure a PAC beehive spring will/can handle it. But contact Geoff @EPS with your specs and intended RPM range with the motor and I am sure he will tell you what to use.

You don't have to change retainers and locks, but I would get Springs rated above whatever the lift on your cam is just to be safe, but if your heads look beat up I would change everything I could while they were off

Looks like I'm going with patriot dual gold springs. I'm still going be running stock heads for the time being. Would these springs be to hard on the valve train? And since I'm going with dual's, I have to buy the whole kit correct?
Last question is, if I buy the patriot springs will I have to do any shimming, or is it just drop in and go?
