Default Cylinder flex honing

Ok so whats the procedure for flexhoning an engine block? My guess is lube the flexhone and cylinder walls with engine oil and make 15-20 quicks passes up and down with the hone. Am i right?

Yep, that's about it. You can get a recommended honing fluid from BRM, which is the company that make the Flex Hone brushes.

Just make sure you bolt down a torque plate first if your honing an LS Alloy block or expect it to warp when honing.

flex hone doesnt even take off a significant enough of material to require a torque plate...its just to get a good cross hatch for rings to seal...no even close to taking off one thousandth of an inch, and if it is you are either using wrong grit, or making over 50 passes with the thing

Really? The torque plate is installed to prevent warpage during honing?

Mano suggested 400 grit, I would think you'd be fine as long as you don't go over board...just do enough to get good cross hatch
