Post Patriot to AFR heads ?

Hey guys
I have a 02' camaro SS M6
Bottom end ls1 : stock crank , 6.200 rods and -2 cc pistons on 3.905 bore
with the ls6 stage 2 patriot heads 58cc

Car's result is 465rwhp/430rwtq at 11.75 compression

what I want is the same numbers but with lower compression
so a friend of me have the AFR 225 62cc

So do you recommend me to buy the AFR for my motor ?

Not sure you will get the same power with better heads but lower compression. I would shoot Tony Mamo a PM and get his input.

Are the AFR's untouched? Recently there was a set that someone tried to port and they actually screwed up the flow.

I gained alot of power going to the AFR head over a top sponsor's head. I have seen patroit heads at the track and i consider them a budget head like the ones i had. You will gain from an AFR head,if you keep the compression the same the gain will be bigger. if you lower it some like to 11.5,you should still see a gain. The AFR head has great mid flow and will gain under the curve and the car will accelorate faster. Still,pm tony and get some AFR heads. Also,Pat G is great at custom cams,I have had two from him and each time i made a nice gain over the cams i removed.

No, but their not worse either. I would say it comes down to personal preference. I went with Trickflow because of the Brian Tooley factor.

I've raced for years in NE Ohio, home of trickflow and Brian Tooley, and the faster builds in the area all use AFR. Hell one night at Dragway 42 a couple of their engineers came over to my car to see what I was running to get my low numbers ... Mamo ported 205s. They didn't want to talk much after that, lol

Are those 225 AFRs the small bore version of those heads? How big diameter is the combustion chamber? Not sure the regular 225s will work on a 3.90 bore;you might want to check with Tony Mamo on that.If they fit I think you would gain power for sure.

If the AFR's haven't been touched since being run, you'll at least want to do a little cleanup mill to ensure they're flat. With that you might as well have them milled down to ~58cc where you're at. Also be careful with stuff like the bronze valve guides as they will wear out quicker without roller rockers on a higher lift cam.

I almost bought a set of used Mamofied 205's but after adding up the extras to make sure they were fresh, it was very close to a set of brand new ones.
