Default Plugs?

Alright, after searcing around, I still cant find what i need.

I bought NGK TR55IX plugs for my 01 bird LS1. I noticed on their site, and their book that this plug does not come up for this motor/year yet i see other guys running them.

What I'm trying to make sure is if it is ok to run these plugs, and what gap? It looks like they have a shorter reach then the "reccomended" plugs.

Motor will have a TrickFlow Stage 3 Cam, full length headers/full exhaust. No spary (yet).

Thanks in advance!

the IX are iruidium. They are supposed to be pregapped and recommend not adjusting the gap. The was a service bulletin for our cars changing the recommended gap to .40 instead of .60 Regaping iridium plugs could damage the tip.

I always use the factory ac delco iridiums just because the gap is smaller than 60 thousandths to account for increase in gap over time....but to answer your ? You are good to go

I run the NGK TR55's and I gapped them at 55. You should be completely fine with these. But when you add that spray you'll need some colder plugs (TR6's).

I'd use a BR6EF if a 150+ shot

Sounds good - if running a 150 shot the BR6EF would be great or even a BR7EF since the OP is saying he'll be cammed. You're right though, the non-projected tip on those would be safer to run with nitrous when that much more power is had above stock. Good catch.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Has anyone re-gapped the iridium plugs? If so, what is the "ideal" gap for my current setup?

You dont regap the irridiums, you will more then likely hurt your plugs more then doing them good.
