Post 408 iron block info wanted

I am building a 408 iron block stroker with a 4.03 bore. What head gaskets are you guys using? I was planning on using a late model metal gasket off a 6.0 truck. Is there a better way to go?
Also I looked for some kind of notch on all of the pistons for reluctor wheel clearance and cannot find any. I have the lunati stroker kit and want to make sure this is a successful install. The parts in the kit are very impressive and come balanced with all the weights written for you. Should I have the balancing checked or just put it together? I know that not all stroker kits are created equal and have seen on the forums all the problems there are. I hope that I bought the right kit and would appreciate any info from others that have used this setup. Thanks.

Had one just like it, awsome kit, I would spend the money and have the weight double checked just to be sure.

It looks like you have even more cubic inches now. How much do you dyno with that setup? Also on your 408 do you know what head gaskets were used and how much did it dyno?

You have to call cometic to get a 4.03 bore gsk. They might have them in stock but I doubt it. Hands down the best gsk IMO.

No one makes a 4.030 head gasket for anything unless it's custom because it would stick in the bore unless it was totally perfect at 4.030. It will usually be bigger like a 4.080-4.100 for a 4.030-4.060 engine.

There are plenty of folks using the 6.0L GM MLS gasket on 4.030 bore motors with no issues. Cometics and FelPros will also work.

Yup. I'm using a Cometic 4.030 gasket on my 408 iron block. Even then, the gasket needs a little massaging. Just depends on how precise you want to be.

what would I need to do if I wanted a Graphite gasket but with a 4.040 bore? Felpro makes custom gaskets?
