Depending on who ports your stock heads, they could be either equal to or better than stock 243s. With 243s though, you have more room to grow afterwards vs. a radically ported 241.

You can easily find 243 heads for 4-500 bux.

Ported 241 can perform very well, but something always comes up when I work on my car so I like to have as many ducks in a row as possible. That's a big reason I bought some 799s to have ported then just install them later.

If you look around and find a good deal you can get 243/799 heads for ~$300 and get them ported. You can sell your stock heads for $100-150 to get some of that back.

The z06 heads have lighter valves which are worth more $$$.

you have to know exactly what year the heads came off of. 01 Z06 engines had the 243 heads but did not have the hollow/sodium filled valves. that was only the 02-04 z06s. 243 and 799 heads are the same design and flow the same. you can pick up used 799/243 heads all day every day from ebay for 350-400 dollars. a rebuild and flatness check will cost you parts plus 200 dollars or you can send them to advanced induction to get some work done for 500+ depending on what you want to do.
