Default Help me spend $2000

I have a 01 formula a4 car it's a daily driven and I mean daily as in only car it has 162k on it and about 80k on trans 162k on rear end the car has full maintance on it early everytime runs just as good as when my dad got it with 10k

As for mods

4k stall, long tubes to ory with bullet dumped before axle all
rear suspension, lid,

I'm debating If I should do all new top end with mild head and cam setup or should I just start building a shortblock due to the high mileage to the car and Im going to keep adding mods to the car

If you plan on keeping the car for awhile, I wouldn't drop a lot of money on a motor with that kind of milage.

You could always cam it and still have some nice change left over for a 6.0L swap motor.

I figure either way it goes I can spend 2k on forged h beams and wiseco piston with stock crank or 2k on a top end just scared to put a cam in it and the motor give out

Throw an ls6 top end with a nice cam and you can always build a shortblock on the side and already have a topend to put on it...I priced out rebuilding a shortblock and with good brand name parts I came up with under $700 to rebuild (rings, bearing, lifters, chain, gaskets, bolts)

since i had higher miles on mine i just did a few mods, i did do a cam and a few other things, but once i get a few things done i will start building a block, it sucks to have a project car and not be able to drive it or have fun with it, im torn between a turbo 5.3 build , or just go with a 6.0 build. but i think it would be worth it to throw a cam in there, if these motors are taken care of well they will last for awhile,

Circle d 4k converter..700-900$
Pacetter 1 3/4 headers... 250-300$
Tsp y pipe and true duals?
Bmr torque arm to take it off the trans?
Eps/tsp camshaft 400$
Ls2 timing chain-50$
ls7 lifters-120$?
Tune?

Biggest gain is going to be from the camshaft... seen a h/c/i ls1 make 481 with 1 3/4 pacetter headers.

I have a friend who sprays 150 continuously (trigger happy) through his LS1 which has 158k without a single problem. I've seen many many others do the same. I wouldn't hesitate to do H/C if i were you. If it runs perfect and everything checks out fine, i don't see the problem....miles are miles, yank yank.

If you want to cam swap I would definately pull the heads and swap lifters and get a new oil pump just for insurance.

Never heard of them. You could probably build the one in your car for a little over 1k. It'll just be down for a while. Maybe find a low mileage 6.0 from a junkyard.

Mabbco is a company that rebuilds factory shortblocks
They sell 6.0 full rebuild with a 90 day warranty for $1299

The best way for you to spend $2000 is to paypal it to me. I will tell you your car is much faster and change your timeslips with a pen. Then we are both happy!
