Default Looking for a cam

I know I've posted a similar thread a while back like this, but I figure just posting a new one would be easier...

So a pretty big local show is in the near future, and I want to put a cam in my car before then. I've been planning a head/cam combo, but I just don't have the money to do it all at once now.

I have an idea of the heads I want, but I'm completely lost on a cam. I know that Futral cams and the MS4/3 cams are good but I think I remember reading that there are better ones out there.

Can I get some help on some good cams?

Oh, and I'm running full exhaust with long tubes, a FAST LS6 intake and 90mm throttle body. I plan on getting it retuned after the cam install.

Don't go too small with a stick. Don't be afraid of big :-) 232/232 .600/.600 112+4

We put something similar in mnyptZ's car with slightly milled 98 heads and made like 410hp on Norris's dyno. Car drove great and would easily be fine as a dd.

You will need dual springs, hardened pushrods, and should do oil pump (I recommend Melling 296) and a LS2 chain. I like Patriot springs as well...

MS4 or MS3 are both BIG cams for a motor that you want low end power on a stock motor. Most big cams don't make power until the top end. You will need something in the 220-230's duration and around 595-600 lift.

You'll want to go with a cam like a 228/228 112lsa or smaller to meet those goals.

I will stand by don't be afraid to go bigger. Plus, don't forget if you get bigger heads etc the cam will get smaller. Just watch PTV....so don't be silly....

Those all sounds like good ideas! I am planning on buying heads in the near future but just can't now. So do I need to take that into consideration?

The MS3 is a dog down low. I went from L/T with an MS3 to stock mainfold and a 222/222 with .563/.563 lift I my car now has more low end tq or at least it feels that way.

Yes. If you go small, it will act smaller with heads. Ask mnyptZ or at least search his posts. He is inactive here now, but his cam was bigger than I even recommended, and he will tell you... Don't be shy :-)

I had a 230/232 (F13) and it had tons of midrange. The MS3 is for higher RPM Power. You might consider a custom grind, not much difference in price.

I have been looking at the F13 cam, Mazzenger. How do you go about getting a custom grind camshaft?
