Default pp stg 2 5.7 heads-224r cam dyno results

dyno 2/5/04: 325 rwhp/340 rwtq
mods:ss3200,3:42,shorties,off road x-pipe,no mufflers-straight pipes,cold air induction,ported tb,ls6 intake,ls1edit tune,-best 1/4=12.50@111-1.80 60 ft.

dyno 3/15/04: 398 rwhp/385 rwtq
new mods: patriot performance stg 2 5.7 heads milled .030,tsp 224r cam,Lt headers,ls1 edit dyno tune.new 1/4 times next week.

my car is a 98 vette a4 w/70k.
ok my feeling on this new setup is good. driving the car home from the shop the car pulled very hard on the hwy from 70-140mph. it just feels like it has more power from 3k-6200 rpm. for the price of this pkg its a real bang for the buck. $1550 for h/c(TSP),gaskets,bolts,pushrods, added new timing chain & oil pump for $95, used Lt headers $450.
the installation went great, Dave at Combination Motorsports here in vegas really did a great job and had it done within 2 days and Seth got me 40 hp off the dyno tune.
no problems with these patriot heads. idle could be brought done a bit(sounds mean), and let me tell you this thing is verrrry loud. times will be posted next week.

Sounds very promiseing. Good luck.
Hopefully you have at least a ET street for the track with the new setup.
If you do except 1.6 60's and 11.8's and better.
Let us know how it goes.

so this was with a totally open exhaust? that car has got to be loud. Too bad you didnt do a dyno of before and after from the shorties to long tubes. What do you think about 10 hp difference from just that. Good Luck with your setup.

Kind of off topic, but when you buy the TSP/PP package, do you have the option of sending in your heads for a credit since there is no core requirement? I thought I read you got 200 off, but I could be very very wrong.

With the PP heads no core is required and never heard of someone buying back the cores. Why do we hang onto a set of heads we will more than likely never use again? I don't a clue - mine will be just taking up space.

Congratulations on your new Mods. Stage 2 Heads and a Cam are also my next venture.

You will probably need to consider a roll cage next. If you go faster than 11.5 or 11.99 in the quarter, (depending on which rulebook they follow) they will make you get a cage. At our local track it’s 11.5 seconds. I personally don’t want a cage.

I figure when I get the S2 Heads and a TR224 cam it will still have a nice street matter but run around 11.6 sec quarters. If it goes faster I’ll use LS1 edit to dial my shift points to where I don’t have to get the cage.

I’m looking forward to see your track times.

Good luck,

Al

Congrats on the new setup! That 224R or the new 225 camshaft both make great power for daily driver camshafts! The perimeter heads have worked really well for people, combine that with the $999 pricing & I bet we'll have some of the usual Patriot bashers coming into this thread pretty soon...
