Default noob oil pump question

i have a 2000 trans am, and i've never had to change an oil pump before, and mine is going bad. is there a how-to write-up or anything?

Karl, Here is a procedure..

There is a step when the oil pump bolts are torqued back up. In combination with this, some people just torque the bolts, period. Other people make sure that the new pump is aligned properly (centered) on the crank snout, while torqueing.
This procedure for alignment was addressed recently in this forum.

That's a helpful write up on R&R ing the oil pump ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,I would suggest installing a new o-ring on the oil pick up tube while You're in there putting a new pump in as I've read quite a few threads with o-ring issues so new o-ring and be careful installing it .

good time to install a new cam also looks like i got some researching to do. it'll be my first mod
