Default Thinking about doing a 383 stroker setup

Hello everyone!!
Im thinking about doing a 383 stroker setup.
I already have a few parts that Im thinking about using.
Here's what I have:

FAST 92/92 Intake and TB
Trickflow 205 heads
1.7 Harland Rocker Arms
SLP double Roller Timing chain
Brand New LS1 Block
Thunder Racing Cam(don't remember which one but it's one of the cheater cams)
Comp Cam Lifters

Anybody have any recomendations for what Pistons and Crankshaft I should go for?

I went that route with the scoggin dickey setup and afr 225 heads. Only problem was I was slower then a friend of mine with a 346 cam only car. Stock heads even. I was 150 lbs heavier. Me 10.42, him 10.38. Needless to say I was disappointed. 450+ through a 5,000 stall.

One of the main reasons for building a 383 is the use of the factory block. But, if you're buying a new block, then it makes more sense to build a 402 with an LS2 block or 416 with an LS3 block. Unless you're getting the LS1 block basically free, the added cubes make much more sense.

As for pistons and crankshaft, I can only talk about my experiences with Mahle and SCAT. The Mahle pistons have been great and have a nice coating on the side skirts. Very nice pistons, especially for the money. Also, I'm not spraying, so that was also a nod to the Mahle pistons I selected. The SCAT 4.0" stroke crank was also a very nice piece. My machinist said that it was almost perfectly balanced when he got it. No major balancing needed. For the price differences, I'd buy the SCAT crank again over a Callies or Lunati or even Eagle. Regarding your cam, check with Patrick G or contact Geoff @ EPS directly for a nice custom cam.

how were the out-of-round measurements on the Scat crankshaft journals?

for comparison, my K1 4" crank was .0001" OOR on the mains, and .0003" OOR on the rod journals.

I've had this LS1 block for awhile that I got from my friend for a really good price. Im pretty sure I spun a bearing on the car now so Im thinking about building this block. That's why I have a bunch of other parts. Also, for the cam I already have the cam that bought from Thunder Racing awhile back.
All Im pretty much missing are the pistons and Crankshaft.
I also have a new set of Forged Eagle Connecting rods.

Just remember, if you want to go bigger later for an 87lb penalty you can pick up a used 6.0 truck block and reuse all the parts out of your 383 except pistons to make a 408

yeah I thought about going LS2 block but I have all these parts. Unless I sell all my LS1 stuff I might get that LSX 427 Shortblock setup from TSP
