Default Oil Filter O-Ring blowing out

I know this is a ls forum but im hoping someone can help me. I have a 93 Chevy truck that i recently rebuilt, well like 6 months ago, and i just got out of school for spring break to install it. After getting everything ready new motor and tranny dropped in all the wires done lines ect. When i cranked it up it blew oil right out of the top of my oil filter. THinking i didnt have it tight enough i pulled it off reset it and it did it again. It has a oil coller adapter on it so thinking it could possibly be warrped i got another one. it did the same thing. Im stuck, i spent all spring break working on this thing and now i cant even drive it home. Everyone ive talked to has never heard of such a thing. Is there a passage that could be blocked? If so how do i test it or is my oil pump just going insane? Thanks for any help.

I bought a 96 T/A that did the same thing, it was the LT1 engine. start the car and it may or may not blow the oil filter ring off,,What the problem ended up being was the oil pump pickup was clogged with some kind of plastic/foil looking stuff. cleaned the pan and pump out and that was the fix.
What oil pump did you put in it? just a stock one, an aftermarket, did you change the bypass spring in the pump itself?

I bought a high volume pump, with I believe is my problem after I talked to a well known engine builder here. He said it wasn't a good combo

Make sure you're not double gasketed, sometimes the old gasket sticks inside the housing. If you add a new filter with another gasket, it'll blow for sure.

Well, is it just pushing out the seal or rupturing the can itself? The cans are rated to 350-400 PSI.

I seriously doubt that its the pump causing this to happen, there's another issue somewhere. Do you have the oil pressure port that's right above the filter capped off?

Just the seal, the can is fine. And are you talking about a port beside the relief vavle on the housing itself?

Oil pressure port above the filter. Could also be the filter itself is bad, did you reuse the original filter the second time?

Sounds like this, possibly in combo with a partly blocked oil line downstream (beyond the filter)?
Do you still have the stock pump?

Here are other thoughts.
You rebuilt the engine....all new bearings? Is it possible that the bearings are not aligned for proper oiling?
If you have an oil pressure gauge...how high does the pressure read, just by cranking? If there is a gauge, do you remember what this figure was before rebuilding?
Sorry for all of the questions, but they are part of the troubleshooting.

I dont have the stock pump, i was going to buy another one, yes all new bearings, the machine shop installed the cam bearings i installed rod and main caps but those are just about dummy proof, i do not have a pressure gauge i was going to get one of those too if the pump didnt work.

Really dumb question but are you sure you have the right size filter? Wrong size can screw on and gasket will be out of position and can blow out.

Assuming you have the right filter a gauge should give you some insights. I'd put one on before going through the effort of changing the pump.

yea i have matched the numbers up numerous times because i was thinking they gave me the wrong filter also but it is correct. I have never used a oil pressure gauge, do you screw it into the port above the filter?

OK if the pick up tube was really clogged up?? How did it ever reach any pressure let alone around 200PSI to burst your oil filter ring seal? I'd love to blow air bacwards through my blazer engine and see if plastic or foil comes out of the drainage? But it just doesnt seem likely?
