Here's some really interesting information on breaking in your engines.

THIS ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ 100% true
Dyno loading the engine to force the rings into the crosshatch is a procedure
that many shops have been doing for years. Prototype Racing Engines (Chi-
town) did this back in the 80s.

I know someone will try and say this doesn't apply but...every diesel I've rebuilt we idle until oil pressure comes up (1-5 sec),run around 1500 rpms until operating temp (5-10 mins), and then took out and accelerate to 45mph a couple times light throttle, a couple times half throttle and a couple times full throttle. After that drain the oil, give it to the customer and tell them to run it normally and bring it back in 500 mi to drain oil again...never had a problem. If it works on 500hp, 1500ft-lb high compression engines running 25-30 lbs of boost it should work on anything...loading an engine is the best way to seat rings IMHO

One of the oil changes was to take a closer look after finding the metal fragments. Otherwise it would have been 3 oil changes within the 1st 1,000 miles. If you're going to err, err on the side of caution, no? Anyway, no more fragments have been found. It got street tuned and then dyno tuned yesterday. Was running rich down low and lean up high originally. Now af is about perfect and she laid down 425 rwhp and 394 tq. with an automatic and 3,600 stall through an Australian 9 bolt w/ 3.27 gear. Hp was still level at 6,700 rpm when he let out Will post dyno sheet soon.

nice numbers. sounds to me like you had some debris left over in the engine from improper block prep. glad to hear all is good.

Don't mean to highjack. Thanks man I cant take all the credit for the info. LS6427 informed me on the proper way to break in a motor. It makes me wonder how many problems people end up having down the road do to improper break-ins.
