It's coming. I expect to have the car back together soon unless I have to flycut the pistons for the new heads, but I doubt it.

The car is almost back together. The clamps that came with the new exhaust are garbage so I ordered new clamps from Summit. In the meantime I've been driving around my apartment complex with open headers and getting some heat cycles in the new springs and trying to break in the new clutch.

I've also started on another 4.060" bore LQ9 that will go in my Mustang. It won't be a stock stroke though.

The car is up and running. I have a couple stupid codes to troubleshoot, but it feels pretty strong. For anyone interested, the codes are:

PO131 - O2 Sensor
PO463 - Fuel Level Sensor
P1637 - Generator Circuit

I had the P1637 in mine. I just had to let the car turn some RPM after the break -in. Weak battery gave me problems I think. Once it charged, it went away. I'm anxious to see what this thing does. I'm thinking about doing the same build with the set of LS3 heads that are currently on my stock bore 6.0

Thanks for the info. I disconnected the battery, cleared the codes, and put about 75 miles on the car and no issues. Passed inspection yesterday and I'm sitting at the courthouse right now getting registration. Should be getting back on the dyno in the next couple weeks.

LMFAO! Still living the low lyfe but t's much better now I ripped out those SLP headers and y-pipe for OBX. Probably gained an inch of ground clearance.

Driving home from a movie last week and a valve spring broke, dropping the valve into the engine. Looking down the guide, I can see the piston is still there so it's not a total catastrophe, but I've already decided to start on a new build for the car.

I've been communicating with Comp about the broken spring. I'm sure I'll wind up sending them in to be looked at, but I'm think it's going to be dual springs from here on out.

Curious as to what Comp has to say.

BTW, where is your buddy when you need some failure analysis...

Lol, they've been asking questions like what was installed height, coil bind, etc. Haven't heard back since Friday.

I really don't know what caused this, this is the first time a spring has broken on me so I'm really eager to find out why it happened. If it's something I did, I want know what it was so I can avoid doing it. If it's on Comp's end, I probably will stay away from Comp springs. I hope I can send it back to them to let them look at it and see what happened. If not, I might send it to a lab to get looked at and then I'll post results.

They're Comp 7228 conical springs. The cam was only about .598" lift and it was about .090" from coil bind. It's an old grind, I don't know what lobes, but the springs had a about 420lbs open. The spring broke just cruising on the highway at about 2000 RPM.

IIRC you once mentioned to me about how you were less than thrilled at the retainer fit on the top of the spring.
Sucks to hear of such bad luck man
