Default Oil pump

What should I go with? Fresh complete build. Tps 228r cam, ls7 lifters, and mostly stock inside other than that. I put a gm replacement and when it got to full operating temp the psi was around 23. I dont like that. What should I go with?

A Ported LS6 Pump would do great or you can look into Melling Oil Pumps. I personally run the Ported LS6 and I'm usually around 50 psi cruising, and I have had zero issues so far.

If I went with a melling ou think go with a high pressure? And can you order the ls6 already ported somewhere?

Most likely You have some bearing clearances that are a little larger than optimum , but FYI Amazon has the Melling 295 for $60 brand new ,,,,,,it's from Northern through Amazon ,,,,,good luck

Yea after my oil pump went out I've gd nothing but hell. The day after I replaced the pump a lifter collapsed and scarred my cam. Fixed all that and 2 days later broke 2 rods and cracked one. So I decided to just do a complete rebuild since I already had alot in it. The oil pump may be good. I just had low oil pressure the day before the rods broke

I'd go ahead and run the high volume pump. 10296 I think? That's what I run in my motor 50-55psi warm idle, 75-80psi in the higher rpms.

I see no problems with running the high pressure pump on a stock bottom end....I'm running a forged stroker though

I ran the melling 10296 HV pump in my 00 SS. Worked great for me in my cam only/spray setup. I am using the same pump in my current build as well.
