Default Lazy lifter or exhaust leak?

My '99 c5 has a new tick. I noticed it while cruising at low rpms with the radio on. I can only hear it in the cabin. It will follow my RPMS from idle up to 2k, but as soon as I hit 2k, the sound immediately disappears.

Here is a video. The sound is noticeable around the 11 second mark when I start revving it.

Bump

Any ideas? Normal noise from a h/c/i engine? I can't say if it was there before.

My 5.3 with 269k in my gmc had a tick similar to that. Sounded like a lifter so I was worried. Well I was watching it idle and saw a spark plug wire dancing around. It was just a loose plug. Needless to say, I was very relieved. Still running strong

I already checked plugs and wires.

Guys, it is an exhaust leak. Right at the 2nd midpipe connection, which is a slip fit. I got the car up in the air and it is leaking so bad that the exhaust gasses fill the bottom of the car and you can see the condensation dripping right out.

I am having this section welded as the only reason it is not one piece already is so you can adjust your catback. So I am going to adjust my exhaust so it is perfect, then mark it and take it to a muffler shop to weld.

So did it go away when you've fixed the exhaust?

No welding exhaust didn't fix it, I thought it would.

I swapped cam and lifter, made same noise.

Put a forged 347 in, noise gone. Must have been the cam bearings.

What lifters did you use and was the cam already beat up from the lifters not pumping like they should?
I unfortunately have found numerous lifters from different motors not pump/compressing or rebounding like they should, cleaned or not cleaned.
Is something in the oiling system causing the cam and lifters to be starving for oil at some point? Hmmmmmm
