I just bought some ARP head studs, not gonna lie the china men almost got the sale on this one. $60 bucks vs the $250 I paid, I know people have made tons of power on these and mine will be no where near some of you guys but I just couldn't do it lol. I kept telling myself in my head they are fine but just couldn't pull the trigger haha.

Unhappy Dodgy

I just received some Procomp studs for my LS2 engine.

On first inspection they looked fine. But then I spun a few nuts onto the studs. The threaded holes were not all concentric in the nuts and wobbled around as they went on, meaning they will not sit flat on the washers/head. The nuts are also very light weight, so I hope the steel is better than the build quality, especially as the threads are not centred!!

Buy ARP

Ouch, if mine show up like that, they will be returned.
maybe got too famous too fast, and lowered the quality?

Did you buy from Pro Comp?

They sent me the wrong ones.

Part number says 2002+ on the web site, says 2002+ on the receipt they emailed me, but says 97-2002 on the receipt that came with the parts.
Same part number...2 different descriptions.

Ordered direct from Pro Comp.

Nice......

That stinks...It happens. Some of the best sponsors here have sent me wrong parts before. So you need the studs with 2 different lengths?

Towbar, I would be interested to see some pics of your issues.

My engine is a 2006, so all studs the same length. Well except for the little bitty ones.

I got the other kit........

They have a screw up in their system.

I am on the the fence on buying the ProComps vs the ARP's. If my build was N/A, I wouldn't even consider the ARP's. But this is a forged 370 with a BW S475 and I am planning on running at least 15 psi.

It really comes down to personal preference and budget. Most people who have the money and are not looking to save a buck and are willing to pay $250 for ARP studs. Honestly if I was building a $20K engine, I would buy the best money can buy. ARP has been around for a very long time and I wouldn't be comparing parts when something already has a historically proven track record and cost is not a factor. I do however feel ARP is ridiculously over priced as they do not have a "special" steel to justify it. You're paying for the name, quality control measures, research, and their highly paid veteran employees.

I think I'm gonna give them a shot for the price! He'll I don't see what they won't handle a h/c motor with a 150 shot!

And I would bet the broken one was installed wrong, I would bet when you ask them did you lube the nuts washers and threads, he would give you a deer in the head light look

That would make more sense. Not going to lie though, it's kind of a stupid question. I'm sure he'll figure it out.

So what is the overall evaluation here? Seems like several members have had great experiences with these cheaper bolts while others still cling to the ARP's.

I'm also wondering about some of Pro-Comp's others parts. I looked directly at their website & they have a smoking deal on a fuel rail kit. Only $75 for the rails, fittings & cross over hose. Blows everyone else outta the water cost wise. Has anyone else used any of their other products?
