dyno tune Monday night at Cartek
Needless to say I'm very dissapointed.
After replacing header gaskets on the dyno because of a bad leak and some other problems it put down 422 rwhp and 390 rwt
Here's the deal: '01 WS6, 6-speed, LS6 ported by Pete @ "CNC", 2.50, 1.60 valves, 224/228 .581/.588 112 LSA XE-R, Qtp (Grot) 1 3/4" headers into Mufflex custom #" y-pipe with Random Tech. "Metallics" into 4" collector into Mufflex 4" exhaust with Spintech muffler with dual 3" outlets, Bauer throttle body, bellows, lid w/K&N, BG ram air (not that it means anything), SLP billet steel flywheel, Cartek clutch, indexed spark plugs. Compression is over 11.4
I was really expecting 430-450+
The ride home I heard the exhaust leak again along with the y-pipe banging the drive shaft over every bump. (0* knock on dyno after we re-strapped it) so all that and the idle still has to be played with (starving for air)
No scanner so I can't post the graph
Let me know what ya all think
John

Before all this it made 330 rwhp 343 rwt. It had lid, loudmouth, ASP pulley. I did some comparing to try and give you guys some idea.

Re: dyno tune Monday night at Cartek
No cut-outs. Julio told me open headers maybe worth 10 horse.
It just seems these numbers are what LS1 heads are doing. Hek they said they're new package is worth around 465 on an f-body (open headers)
He only did 3 sets of pulls (2 in each) and said that's about it. I thought some more time would've tweaked some more. I got there at noon, but because of problems and waiting for them to get there, they didn't start pulling till after 5:00
anyway keep some feedback/opinions coming
thanx

Looks like some nice hp to me. With some bolt ons, CNC ported heads and a relatively mild cam you picked up 90hp and near 50 tq- rear wheel I'm not an expert/guru but I'd say you have a very healthy motor. Congrats! BTW- what are the flow numbers on the heads? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[driving]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_driving3.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" /> .....And your making it from 3500 on(i.e.it's not a spike)

You're making good power and what would be expected with what you're running. You were expecting 450 with a TR224 and CNC heads? Sorry, but no way - even if they are LS6 heads.
I personally am running a cam quite a bit bigger than yours, I have probably higher flowing LS6 heads + all the bolt ons and my numbers aren't very far off from yours.
It's not easy getting 450RWHP out of a heads/cam and bolt-ons. JMO.

All the H/C cars I've heard about making those kind of numbers are running cams like 232/236 112 .590+/.570+ and running LS6 Stage II heads flowing atleast around 315CFM at .550-600 lift.
You'd need atleast a beefier cam (maybe not as big as I listed) and your heads worked a little more with bigger valves (if you're running stock valves.) Maybe throw in a dual exhaust as well.
If your heads don't flow atleast that well and your cam isn't beefy enough you won't make those kinda #'s IMO.

I agree with everything that JF WS6 said.
I think your numbers are pretty stout are they thru cats?
I like your torque some folks have a lot less.

Re: dyno tune Monday night at Cartek
Mine is 224/228
Cartek's 470 rwhp package uses a 224/228 .58*/.58* 113 LSA and probably ground a little different.
Pete doesn't give out flow numbers but he did say they were over 300

Keep this in perspective - I know Big Mike dynoed somewhere around 450RWHP and he has Cartek's X package in his SS and he runs like a 232/236 cam with the X package heads as far as I know.
LG's G5X-1 cam that made like 445RWHP has specs that are 229/233. That most likely means the G5X-2 cam they have that put out 460RWHP is even bigger or has even more lift perhaps.

Re: dyno tune Monday night at Cartek
Makes me happy I stuck with a small cam and kept my stock driveability. I'd also would have expected more, especially since they claimed more.

Re: dyno tune Monday night at Cartek
First off I have the old 224-224 573-573 113LSA cam that the first few X package cars came with and I make about 430/395 threw a 12-bolt/4.10/Cutout.
I think your numbers are excellent given threw a closed exhuast.I've heard the 4in Mufflex can be a restriction on some cars?
One things for sure,Cateks grinds are proprietary,You cant get the same int/exhaust timing from anyone elsebut them.
U should be happy with those numbers.

Re: dyno tune Monday night at Cartek
Yes, that was me with the red f-body
How is 4" restricted? I thought my exhaust was optimized as far as cats and muffler go.
By the way the compresion is over 11.4
thanx
