Are you rebuilding your motor or do you just want more performance, If its a rebuild forget the ls6 stuff alltogether and get some of the many tired and true components available from the vendors here. cnc ported heads, a custom cam etc. Will make way more power than a regular ls6.

Yeah, after talking to Lemons12 it does sound like a much better way to get the car some more power

What are you talking about? Thats exactly what I said?!?!?!

I know because I have an LS1 with the LS6 block. I have ran the #s.

I have also ran the #s on the intake, its not a "similar" to an LS6, it is an LS6 intake.

The only difference is the heads and cam in the later year LS1s.

Come over and look at my LS1, theres no way to tell if it was an LS1 or an LS6.

Would you like to bet $$ on it?? They are not exactly the same. I've owned both and they are "slight differences".

Stock 2001-2002 F-body LS6 is 12561184.

The Z06 LS6 is 12573572.

The old LS1 intake with the EGR setup is 12560688.

97-00 vette LS1 part # is 12556333

Elaborate.

Found this, and while there are advantages, it doesn't warrant the price of a new block:

Unless there's something more.

Not a huge deal or an issue to me.

The fact remains that they are not exactly the same. FYI F-body "LS6" intake has no drive-by-wire connections (like corvette) since we have different TBs.
Also f-body (01/02) flows slightly better than a corvette "LS6".
So "similar" is different than "clone" and therefore not "the same".

Fwiw op ik that a sponsor on here sells a complete ls6 long long block for a little more than 3k but Instaed of that go with a good set of heads and a cam and you'll surpass ls6 power by a fair amount.

Some 2001's got the LS6 blocks...about 3,600 due to a bad batch of LS1 blocks from the supplier. Then they ran out of LS1 blocks in 2002 so about 11,000 F-body's got them.

Dude, you're digging your hole deeper. There aren't many I would take advice from on this website, but PredatorZ IS one of them. Stop arguing and listen and you'll learn more.

Ah yes, its all coming back to me now. You were the one arguing about AIs pricing structure with multiple well established members (and customers of AI) just like you're doing now. What is wrong with you damn newbies anyways

I have been a member longer than you FYI....

I'm not arguing. You guys seem to make huge deals out of nothing. Its all good conversation to me. You can't always be right, and its ok to be wrong.

Tell me what I'm missing. The drive by wire connection is on the TB?? You run the #s on my LS6 intake, and it comes up as a LS6 in intake?

Edit: Part # off my intake is 12573572

part numbers for all the variations of the LS6 intake

88894339, 88890524, 88890523, 12561184, 12573572

variation - the act of changing or altering something slightly but noticeably from the norm or standard.

Sorry if its such a noob question I don't know too much about internals......... Since I already have an LS1 thats going to be taken apart soon. figured it'd be worth a shot
Take a look at my details below. Mine is a D.D. and all the parts I had installed were New GM parts. I have a LS whatever makes you happy, I'm not going to get into a Pissing match. I have the horsepower and am Very Happy!! I got most of my parts off ebay and some from the sponsors here, some from Tick Performance which did the work for me and may I add they did a Great Job for the most part and would recommend them. The entire deal cost me less than $3000. At some point you will need to decide for yourself what will make YOU happy.

There aren't many people I take their advice without thinking through what they are telling me. And predator Z is one of the few that I take their advice without question. I wouldn't exactly argue with him he knows his stuff period. Also Lemons have you been down to H'ville dragway this year? I've been and haven't seen you.

Not yet.. I posted in your other thread.

My car has been down for the longest... My short block is on its way and got a few other things to buy. I hope to have it up and running by mid September, I'm driving to Tampa.
We are all shooting to get our cars back together in that time frame... Buddy with his 427 C6, other with a 451 nitrous drag car, one with a D1sc Z28, and my buddy from Tampa with his cam/nitrous C5Zo6. We will all make a trip down to run the cars then.

I did get invited to go with a friend that wants to take his '12 Challenger down.. I might try to talk my buddy into letting me take his TBSS down he just bought (the one with the D1 build) since he works weekends and wants to know what it runs.
Are the only TNT night this year on Fridays?
