Buddy of mine had a 233/239 on a 113 cam in his o4, with a set of Stage 2.5 5.3 Heads. He Daily'ed it every day, and it ran great!! 3rd gear and 4th gear ate a little on some sticky tires and drag bags.

The Torquer V2 is basically the next step up. This cam still offers good drivability with a proper tune, but is a little more aggressive.

Yes the 228R on a 112 will have some chop to it. You might try a search for some videos of cars with the 228R on here, that should let you know exactly what kind of sound you will end up with if you decide on the 228R.

Awesome. Thanks. By the way, does the 600$ kit you mentioned come with everything needed to swap the cam out? Dont i need retainers, valve spring seats and valve stem seals? Or is that only necessary when doing a bigger cam?

If you mean a clearly noticeable cam sound then yes!
I'm going to say either a 224/224, 226/226, or 228/228 with a 110-112lsa.

I was thinking about the 228R with 111/112 LSA also. I've heard nothing but good results from it!

I have the same question as the OP though. What other reccomended upgrades should you install at the same time?

Figure you may as well go at it while it's open.

You definitely want to upgrade springs and pushrods, and usually we would also recommend a timing chain, oil pump (since it will need to be pulled anyway to get to the chain), and lastly lifters depending on milage.

Honestly, i wouldnt go any smaller than the TSP Torquer 2. 232/234. Good all around size IMO. I have never driven a cammed car, and i went with a 230/227.. That cam was soooo civil. I wish i went slightly bigger.

Due to the weight of the car, and the OPs goals, the 228R is an excellent choice.
