Ls6 cam hp 1/4 mile gains?
#43
With good tires and on the dope it will run in the 11s. I have the LS6 cam and springs in my car with bolt-ons and it definitely picked it up above 5800 RPMs. It pulls alot harder than it did with the stock truck cam. It ran into a wall @ 5800 before and now will pull above 6500 no problem. For a budget its a good mod IMO but wont be night and day like other cams can be but they cost 3 times as much and will burn lots of premium fuel if your commuting in your car. They will never know its in there and the car will sound almost the same but will perform better especially with the convertor you have.

Trust me guys I know there are many many many more cams out there lol. I have done research on this crap for years.... The only reason I'm doing this is because it's so cheap. 3 tenths and 3 mph is worth it to me.. It will take me 1-2 days to do the work for some good gains.. And I will get good gas mileage and can run these springs 75,000 miles and not even have to worry about them.

LS6 cam in the 11s
I don't think it will run in the 11s without spraying it with your setup. It might on slicks. Its possible in good air and hooking track. What gear in your car? You ran 12.30 on what tire??

Yea I have looked at other cams like the 228r the past cuple years. Not this cam... I already broke the low to mid 12's mark so that's out of the question.. The car since the 12.3 has a ported throttle body, slp 25% pulley, and will have ls6 cam with shift points bumped up 200rpm. I would have broken the 12.3 mark by now actually if I either had better tires or had my car raised up like it was. Last time I went I ran 12.5's with a 2.0 60ft. My 12.3 was on a 1.78 60ft. So it should have had 12.1's in it already. I do have a little bit better of a tire now (nt05r's), but idk if it will hook being lowered.

People are saying a minimum gain of 2 tenths with the ls6 cam.. Adding in the 25% pulley, ported throttle body, and ls6 cam I really hope it will hit 11's on motor.

11s
Thats what I said---Good air and dead hooks it Will. If it doesn't 60 ft it probably won't get there.
1.95-2.10 60 foot It probably doesnt have enough *** to get there on the motor especially in summer Hott air.
Good luck and let us know what she does.

Thanks for the input man. On the 12.3 it didn't even dead hook though. I only cut a 1.78 60ft. If I dead hooked I would think it would hit a 1.7 60ft even or a 1.6x. I agree I don't have a chance unless I can get the 60ft in the 1.8 or lower range. With the new tires that shouldn't be a problem though. I won't be going tell it cools off anyways though so the air should be cool.

Is it stealth , an mpg your after ?
If so I would go Lingenfelter GT2-3 with roller rockers 1.85 PP heads an full bolt on an then you can proudly hand that Mustang his *** .
I ran a set-up like this an did run 11.89 all day .

LOL honestly I can't decide if I want to be stealth or not. I do want to get good mpg still wich i think can be done with both the cams above. If I raised the idle or idle screw and had rpm around 1000 would you still be able to tell it had a cam in it?
