Default Can you identify this cam?

I know this may be a stretch, but here it goes. I bought my motor from a wrecked 98 Z28. I heard the car run before I bought it so I could tell that it had an aftermarket cam in it by the sound of it. I replaced my rear main seal and rear cover gasket tonight so I got a glimpse of the back of the cam. (see photo below). Do any of those numbers show what cam I have? I am thinking it may be a texas speed cam since the car had a texas speed sticker on the airbox lid. That may be pushing it, but that's all I have to go by. I wasn't able to talk to the original owner.

I do not think that is a TSP cam. I'm no more help than that.

Call comp. They do most of the cam grinds so if you provide them the numbers, they can trace it back to one of their cam orders.

Well I just checked with Comp. It's not one of their cams. It looks like Crane has some similar part numbers for their cams but nothing that fits the ones on mine exactly. I'll give them a call and see if it's one of theirs.

Is Crane out of business?

Edit: nevermind. Looks like they're still going.

Have you measured the lift and so forth to get some specs. It might help identify it. Kinda weird trying to find it by the number. I even googled it, lol

Yeah I figured it was worth a shot. I'm really trying to keep this motor as assembled as possible so I can get it going and out of my garage so it'll be hard for me to actually measure the lift right now. I share the garage with my dad and he's needing the space to install a new transmission in his car. I've googled everything possible to see if I can find it by the part number but I've had no luck. Neither Comp or Crane claim it to be theirs. I just hate not knowing what the dang thing is lol

I read it wrong the first time.. Sorry. Should have looked harder. LOL

I did a small amount of research.. I can't find the part number however (315692)... The HR228 definitely dictates a crane grind from what I gather and obviously a 228 for a 346, the grind.

I can't seem to find one that matches the PN however, unless they changed parts numbers and that is a very old cam.

Yeah I was thinking it could be a cam that crane just doesn't make anymore. That's the only company I've found that uses the HR at the beginning of their part numbers. That one cam you found is very close. Hmmmm

I would call them if you haven't... If so, I would just pick that close one and call it a day, I'm sure it isn't too far off.

What part of TN?

Whenever I tear the engine down, which I inevitably will, I find out what it is exactly.

I live in Hendersonville now, but I'm originally from Portland. Not that you would know where Portland is lol
