Default With all the 228R cams

Getting around 400rwh lately with no low end loss, why go any bigger for a street cam?

My buddy asked me this question the other day and I had no come back.

Because they don't all make 400whp. Just the ones posted on here do, the ones who don't rarely bother posting. I know quite a few guys with 228r cam and supporting mods. Most make 370-380.

228R type cams are excellent street cams IMO, but I agree with crazyelf, they are not all dyno warriors making 400+. But they will get a good amount of usable power and give the car a nice sound.

Depends on the combo. My 230/236 cam and 799 heads makes a huge amount more low end than stock heads and 230/224 reverse split.

How much different would the 228R sound vs the TV2?

I have a 228R in my LQ4, but its never been on a dyno. I will say im pleased with the results. Its a cam only engine and was good enough to run 11.97 in my S10.

The TV2 car I heard in person sounded pretty nasty. Much nastier than my 230/224.

The only 228 car I heard was a generic comp grind on a 114 and it was similar in lope to my 230/224.

Because regardless of what you can or can not make with a 228r it's not ideal for every combination and every end goal. Bigger cams can and do make more power, different heads, total combinations, and purposes for the car have different cam needs, and some people just want a monster bumpstick.

My street cam is a 238/247. It makes people look and ask me questions. With ported stock casting heads I make over 450rwhp. It drives great. Different needs, different desires, different sized cams.

I hope I'm happy with my 228R, everyone here talked me out of getting the Torquer 3.

My car is street/autocross
