For the differences listed here I would just run the cam you have already. I agree that mail order tune will leave HP on the table no matter what cam you pick. I picked up over 70hp from my tune with STOCK motor that has only CAI and exhaust.

You can get just about any of the older Comp Cam shelf grinds with under .550" lift for $355 shipped.

The Comp Cams #54-416-11 would be a nice choice.

You could even go with a custom grind for $360 shipped.

IMO either cam it right or forget it till you get the funds $$ together (that includes a live tune).
In the time you save for the money you might find a sweet deal on a used cam.

Actually it would depend on the lobe ramp rate. LS6 (02+) can handle .570 lifts but at slow ramp rates. An example would be like I would not recommend LS6 for Crane ramps which are around .550.
Sharper ramp rates need higher spring pressures and that is what one should look at while deciding which springs to choose.

I have the funds I just don't want to waist to much on this area. The more and more I think about it the ls6 cam is perfect for what I'm wanting. I am currently running a 100 shot wich the ls6 cam is saposed to be good for and I am wanting to run a d-1sc procharger in the next year, so I'm wanting to save as much as I can for that and a built FLT tranny.

So PREDATOR-Z, what are the ramp rates of the lobes used on the GM Hot-Cam, and/or how do they compare to the Comp Xtreme RPM lobes ?

I think I saw a couple of posts in my digging around here that had both the hot cam and the ls6 run on a "Cam Dr" that had lots of data. I decided to go custom grind so I didn't book mark them.
