That's going to cost alot in labor plus you'll have to replace alot of gaskets as well.

Easiest thing would be to a few shops rather that getting guess's from people on here.

Either way best of luck.

why no cam swap ?why are you replacing the lifters ?the heads will need to come off for a lifter swap.how many miles on the engine ? get a ls2 timing chain from TSP.a good shop that knows ls motors will need about 8 hrs to do the job.you probably looking at $800-1000.

I would quote you 800 but that can change by the time so 800-1100 is a good guess

The standard flat rate allowance to remove and replace the heads is 16.5 hours including a valve job. The allowance for replacing the timing chain is 10.4 hours. Given the degree of overlap in the two processes, I would expect labor charges of no less than 20 hours. Hourly rates, of course, vary between shops and by geographic location.

Cam not an option since the car is my daily, and can't risk perm check engine light issues. Everyone I knew/heard of who did illegal smogs either had the shops closed, or have elected to no longer do these smogs. Car has about 140K miles and b/c of other life expenses, and can't afford a $10K crate engine upgrade at this time.

Unless you know of a reason to change that stuff, leave it alone as is. Dont need put double springs on astock cam. It will only hurt performance. If you're just looking to replace wearing parts, get a LS2 timing chain and a LS6 oil pump (the il pump is more important than any of the other things anyway).

A small cam with a correct tune will pass smog no problem. As others have pointed out there is no point to doing all that work of there are no problems and you aren't going to swap the cam.

140k isnt nothing for these engines especially if its just a stock internal car. There is absolutely no benefit in changing those parts when your gonna be running the stock cam. Your basically gonna be throwing away $1500+ counting parts/labor for no logical reason.
