i have a 402ci with tfs 235 heads. 545hp,11.5 compression. I was thinking i would of made more power, like 555-560hp but oh well. I would not go bigger then a 235 head on a 408ci.

I appreciate the kind words ....

Actually, the cam is probably about the same in the 402 as a stock cube LS1. It has a nice sounding idle and the tune is spot-on where it rests in a steady idle consistantly, but when you want the power, it explodes with an abundance of torque ... I like it!

I do LOVE the torque, but with Nitto 555's on the street, it is pretty unusable. Right now I am trying to hook it on the 27" QTP's and, with a set of front DA's ready to go in to match the rear DA coil overs, I hope to improve my 60's ... currently my best has been high 1.6's in horrible DA.

maybe TAME wasn't the right word

Yes the Vindicator does have a super sweet lope. Where does your idle at? Mine settles down instantly to 800 rock solid.

How many passes do you have on your Tex? I sometimes wonder how it will hold up to the strip once I'm ready to lay down some times.
What RPM are you leaving at?

Nice numbers and those are the heads mine should have. As far as compression, according to Vengeance's calculations, I am at 11.6:1.

I have not seen many na 402/408 combos in the 555-560 rwhp range with SAE CORRECTED numbers.

What intake and rear are you running with those numbers?

I imagine my rwhp has suffered by 10 or so rwhp after putting in the S60.

.... LOL.

Mine idles right at 950 or so ... just below a grand. It does need to warm up though and it doesn't like the A/C compressor on, although, I never run it.

The "Tex" feels really good. It has about 5k street miles on it and is 4 years old. I am running the stock clutch master and it's doing really good, but I miss that 3rd shift every once in a while. It definitelly needs a Tick MC which I will do next year. I have about 25 passes on it right now and I started leaving at 3,500 ... waaay too little .... immediately went up to 4,000 ... much better ... went up to 4,500 the last time at the track even better and will be leaving at 5,000 the next time at the track. That should be the sweet spot.

Watch your 10-bolt if you plan to leave on something sticky. I pulled my 10-bolt immediately before putting a sticky tire under it.

Oh I'm not putting anything sticky under my 10-bolt. I am putting together a 9 inch right now. I was wondering if I needed to plan on a clutch swap in the future. That is interesting what you say about launching it at 5000rpm. I'm not planning on going any higher than that before the transmission is rebuilt. I'm concerned that I might have some struggles not being able to launch over 5000rpm.

What would you estimate your race weight at?

No estimating ... race weight is 3,620# in race trim (RTS's).

I am planning to have a Tick build done next year, add a MC & bleeder and take a look at the clutch then. My tranny is bone stock right now too.
