Yeah I would have gone with the 111 now... I like a cam to talk back to me.

You do know that a cam with such overlap will not pass emissions.(unless it is in a pre 1974 car IIRC)

Dude, you're funny!

Just get the 111lsa.

A 232/234 112lsa cam has 9* overlap, you're nowhere near being able to pass! Going with the 111lsa will only bring it up to 11* overlap.

FYI, you need the overlap to be down to -4* if you want to attempt to pass.

I have the original el torro (mentioned on page 1). cam-only, the car ran extremely well. IMO its a perfect street cam because it makes plenty of power down low and carries the power pretty damn far into the upper rpms. i was shifting at about 6500-6600rpm.

it made 380 with a tune from a car with a TSP 228R. Had i actually had it tuned, i know it wouldve broke 400, car was really, really rich

i was torn between the el torro and torquer2 back in the day, im glad i chose the el torro. sounds pretty badass with 111+2lsa too..

I wasnt speaking about the smog rules... i was speaking to the loud choppyness that will attract attention with the true duals... dont want it to radical.

Well even in that case +2* more overlap isn't going make much difference. A 228/228 111lsa might be a good option for you then with it only having 6*overlap.

I think im just going to go with the tv2 112+4 lsa... should be nice. I want to break 400 hp... and the sacrafice that 228r makes uptop isnt really worth it for me (with the small amount of extra downlow torque). When I get my 243's my numbers will be higher and the heads with be able to benefit from the bigger cam.

Any opinions?

No, same POS smog laws over here in the "golden" state. They are supposed to change the smog procedure in 2013 to an OBDII scan type of test but I don't see that happening yet. Everybody is still using the old smog equipment with the rollers and all that hooplah. I don't see these smog shops being able to switch over to the new equipment+training+certification before Jan 1, 2013. Damn tree huggers.

So the tv2 112+4 should go good with my setup and 6 speed correct?
This grind will pair nicely with a 150 shot or/and 243's correct?
Will swapping to 4.10's help me that much?
How much does a gear swap usually cost.

Gear swap will run you 500-750 for the parts and labor more likely.... I'm still thinking about doing the swap but my tuner recommended me to hold out for a 12bolt. B

Before you mentioned gas mileage with tv2, I dd this car 70 miles a day all around average city, highway, stop and go traffic, highway and stop light blast I got 14.8mpg. 90% highway I will know later on tonight when I get gas I honestly never checked MPG for the 3 years I have had the car untill this week.

Also for the price it will cost you to check the springs you can get patriots dual gold valve springs good to .650" lift for 250$ So you can pay the price get them checked and learn pay more to know you may have to change them anyway or just change them.

I went ahead and ordered the tv2... my mechanic said the valvesprings and retainers look " Almost damn new..." The owner told me he recently installed the kit rite before he sold the car... so I think he may be truthful.

4.10's in a 6 speed feels really natural to me. I think I paid something like 400 bucks maybe 450 for my gear install.

I got mine used off here and bought a install kit from NAPA for 88 bucks.

I had to because my car ran like crap with the cam that was in it and the 3.42's.

If you can live with it long enough just save and get a new rear end.

What he said... they're not too aggressive with the T56 transmission gear ratios. $450 is about right on gears+install, also.
