El Toro cam vs torquer v2... Owners post up info
I was looking at the cams variances between each other. I want to have high peak hp while still retaining alot of down low torque. I dont want the cam to be a slug downlow or drop off uptop badly.
El toro-
230/234 .612/.598 111+3 LSA
xfi/xer lobes
Torquer v2.
232/234 .595"/.598" 112+4 LSA
Which would be better for a 2001 camaro ss with tsp true duals dumped, slp lid, ported stock tb,ls6 intake, slp underdrive pulley, pacesetter lt's , 3 inch x pipe, k&n filter, m6 with stock gears.( Stock 241's for now)
Im wanting to stay away from double springs and short spring life. I am looking to spray a 100 shot in the next few months. I also expect to pick up atleast some 243's in the next 6 months. Which cam would work best?

For a good street cam, I think you might really like the VRX4 cam or maybe the VRX5 (although they suggest a double spring with that cam).
The vrx4 will give you a really nice torque curve. You will want that if your not planning on changing the gear anytime soon. You don't want to get a huge cam that needs 4.10 or 4.30 gears and have to sink money into the 10-bolt (especially with a stick car, because its already weak enough) just to enjoy the car. Trust me I've been there and done the same thing and wasted the money.

I'm currently running the v2 with dual springs, wouldn't go any other way just incase of failure it won't drop a valve.
As far as low end torque its still throws you back, according to the graph, not sure if it was 3rd or 4th but peak torque 393rwtq @ 4500rpm and 323rwtq @ 3000rpm. Peak rwhp was 411 @ 6400rpm
I can't say anything about the other cam, I have no regrets with this cam just wish I could have put on cnc'd heads FAST intake. Maybe a sligtly lower LSA for a choppier idle.
Running 243's /w a ls6 intake, resurfaced and stock thickness headgaskets. I also daily drive this car if it means anything to you. So far I am hovering just under 20k miles on this set up

The 111 LSA has 2 more degree overlap so theoretically should put out a few extra hp (more lift as well on intake). But that is a a minimal few.

Look at my sig, that is another derivative. The original El toro is
230/230 .612/.592 111+2 LSA
But once it is cut, the XFI intake lobe always come out as 232, so in reality it is a 232/230 .612/.592 111+2 LSA which makes it a Reverse split.

It is just a derivative due to different supporting mods. IIRC the 230/234 might have been for nitrous application or something like that.

Didn't mean to throw the thread off if I did.

Would I get that done at a machine shop?
The last owner said there wasnt that many miles on the comp cam setup... and before it was sold to me he had swapped it out for the stock cam.. He wasnt running cammed long he said... how much would it cost to check to see if they are still in spec, and where would i do that.
