Default Priming Oil Pump?

Hey i'm in the middle of doing my H/C swap and during the process of putting the new oil pump on i forget to pour some oil in to prime it. However i did turn the motor over by hand about 30 times trying to get the pickup tube to suck some oil into the pump. Do you guys think i will be alright or should i begin to tear this damn thing down again and pour some oil into it. Thanks

Crank engine w/o the ignition coils connected. Look at the instructions at ls1howto.com for the cam swap. After cranking it a few times you can start it up, but watch that pressure like a hawk. It should come up pretty quick.

Thats what I did, I left the plugs for the coil packs disconnected, and turned it over quite a bit. Haven't had any problems

Yeah i'm thinking as soon as its put back together, pull the fuel pump and ingniton relays and turn it over a few times, and this should prime enough oil into the pump, anyone else got any comments?

The idea mentioned above will work great. Disconnect the coil packs and pull the fuel fuse and turn the motor over with the starter until you see your oil pressure starting to rise. Once that is complete, plug in the coil packs and put the fuel pump fuse back in. Then, fire it up!

I always pull the ign fuse after an oil change and after three cranks at 5 seconds each the oil pressure starts to come up, so you will be just fine.

I would also pull the fuel pump fuse so while your cranking the engine over, your not dumping fuel into the cylinders, which causes wash down. good luck

Default Oil Pump

I just did a head and cam with the engine out and we primed the pump and
Believe me it is a while before the gage showed oil pressure
Its not like priming in the old days with a drill.
I believe my heart stopped a couple of beats and then viola 45 lbs with the new Katech pump.
