Thats like what brand of beer do you like. IMO MTI has the most proven, consistent products on the market. Ive been very happy with my set-up. Some friends of mine have recently gotten the Stage IIE heads and had excellent results at the track where it counts. IMO these heads are the best bang for the buck on the market!

If it were me choosing heads for a cam that small, I wouldn't spend the extra money on the LS6 style heads. I'd buy a set of the $1,200 Patriot Stage II 5.3's. That would be saving you over $500 and I know on your setup there wouldn't be a power difference between the two.

also keep in mind i believe mti charges a core...if you get ls6 heads theyd probably want the ls6 core charge which generally is higher than the std ls1 or 5.3 head core...like gomer said a good 5.3/5.7 head would be fine with your application...your talking about a cam that doesnt even take full advantage of big heads anywayz.

With that small of a cam I would just leave my factory heads on.....might even leave the factory cam and call it done!

Don't skimp on your heads unless you have the money and time to rebuild if something goes wrong.

I agree with the other memeber, " MTI has proven their heads to be reliable".

unmilled 5.3's will put you at 10.8 due to the smaller CC

IMO

MTI vs Patriot

Checking in the dyno section etc for the last several weeks and see large number of Patriot users that aren't so happy with their numbers. Note that you do not see MTI users disappointed with MTI results. Do a search and see how many times PP has to send parts out to fix problems in the field like oil consumption over the last six months. Note that MTI doesn't have that issue. Ask to speak with the owner if something goes wrong at MTI you can and based on recent results at PP you'll not get too.

MTI wins that match up for Quailty, Customer Service, Happy Customers & great results.

I thought of the 5.3's but I want to shoot N20. 10.5 CR or above would increase my detonation chances. It's very hot here, not to mention humid. Tuning shops for LS1's are nonexistant. I'm all the car got when it comes to tuning. PITY, but I'm learning fast.
You guys are right that for this cam I shouldn't overdo it.

Why would anyone base their head choice on the cam they are installing? Lord knows that nobody ever moves up to a more aggressive cam!! Use a head that will work well with any cam! My .02

My MTI Stage 2E's have performed beyond my expectations. I highly recommend them.

In the 10's first time out

Sounds like a good deal Terry. That would be stage 2, 67cc, polished bowls? (I've noticed some patriot heads don't have them polished). What could i expect in flow#'s.
