These mods ok? Lookin for approval
I currently have a 2002 trans am ws6 with mods: MAF, True dual magnaflow exhaust, k and n intake.
Future mods are coming in a month: AFR 210 heads with titanium double beehive valve springs and retainers, QTP headers, LS6 cam-XR265HR, ASP 25% under drive pulley, double roller timing chain, Monster Stage 1 clutch, new pilot bearing and slave cylinder.
Will a Monster Stage 1 be able to handle these mods. I imagine I would be walking the line of 420-430 hp.. but I'm not sure.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated on the mods. Good heads/cam combo?
What deals, if any, are Monster clutches offering?

IMO you should go with a different cam. If I were going to spend that much money to build my LS1 (which i did. ha) I would look at something bigger. For $400 you can get a cam that performs much better than the LS6 cam and still retains drive ability and reliability. I went with the 228R and I have an A4, which is usually harder to tune for larger cams. I have been nothing but happy with my decision. Also for the clutch I am no expert so someone else may need to jump in, but it states that the clutch is good for up to 425hp. If you plan on making that I would step up to the stage 2.

What kind of power band are you running with the 228R? I'm trying to retain a little bit of fuel economy as it will be my d.d. until I save up for the evo..what's your mpg like with your cam?

Yea if you don't want to sacrifice power down low for peak power don't go bigger than mid-low 220s on duration...and in my eyes unless you have lift above .600" then double springs are overkill beehives would be better suited...that being said those heads will flow above 600 lift easily...

The cam really comes in around 2800 and goes to 6200 or so. It would make power past 6200 I believe but that is all I'm willing to turn it to right now. My car is also my dd and I haven't noticed much, if any loss in gas mileage. I don't think you should worry too much about mpg with a 6spd. The 228R is a great all around cam that performs on the street and strip. Can't go wrong I don't think.

If you are getting a sub 600 lift beehives will do, but your heads will be capable of much more...if cam is over 600 get the dual springs...the cam will determine the seat pressure needed and then buy springs accordingly...I was just saying those heads can support a much larger cam if you want bc most stock heads are done flowing by 600 lift sorry for confusion

If you match a cam for your heads then you would be running a larger cam. You would need the double springs if you went that route, but if you are going to install a smaller cam such as the LS6 then you can run beehives. I am running beehives good to .650 lift with the 228R.

There is nothing wrong with a ls6 cam, but if your going all out with some afrs i would get a cam to match, look into eps, pat g can spec ya a great cam, your not going to get to many votes for that cam with those heads, your just not going to get the full benefit of the better heads, eps cam,afr heads, maybe a ported fast will make you a happy camper

As far as the monster stage 1 it really depends on if your racing etc,imo i would bump up to a higher stage, better to do it right the first time, ws6store has free shipping and they have good prices, just got my spec3+ from them,
