lq4 question
I have a lq4 that i wanted to use ls2 rods and pistons in now the question do i have to get that stuff balanced do to fact that they are rods and pistons are different than a lq4?
me dealing and building bottom ends i always advise everyone to get your bottom end balanced always its not necessary but it depends on what crank lq4? then yes balance all day ls2 crank? then yes but you wouldnt really have to...as you can tell i love to have everything balanced and on par i dont cut corners dunno if that helps you man
There's probably a big difference between the weight of the LQ4 dished pistons and the LS2 flat tops. At the very least, one should at least weigh the two to see what the difference is and see if it's needed or not. Not everyone would cut corners like you.
I know people slap **** together but i dont want to do that with this motor i want to be safe. Thanks ill take everything to the machine shop and get it balanced than.

It's always a good idea to balance a performance motor. A 15 gram weight difference @ static conditions becomes many pounds of force at 6,000 RPM banging against your bearings in an unequal manner in unequal directions. Are many fine without being balanced? Sure, but you're better off doing it and knowing it's right vs hoping it's right IMO.
