Crash, I can weigh one and compare it to a stock one off my 99. Someone posted that there is only a 3 gram difference between a stock and titanium retainer.

Thanks 2xLS1.

I still think they are just stock retainers though. I thought that titanium retainers were shiny. If they are wrong I need to try and get my money back. Can anyone help me out here?

Does anyone know if a magnet will stick to titanium? Just a thought that it could be one way of testing them. I don't know.

ummm.....I really don't know of any way to tell the difference except to weigh them. You could go to a dealership parts department and see if they have any factory retainers in stock. If so, you could have them bring you one out and you could compare the weight in your hand (there will be a "slight" difference).

Other than that.....wow....don't know what to say.

Titanium does NOT stick to a magnet but the stock retainers do. That is how I check them.

here's some brand new out of the box for comparison although its still not too clear.

look for the tapered edge on the spring end. i believe the stock edge is squared off unlike this:

Default Titanium retainer question

I just bought a used set of comp stock replacement titanium retainers. They showed up today but the look like stock ones to me. Do any of you have any pics of a titainum retainer? TIA
