My fear....I just completed getting my engine back togther and I'm a little concerned with the little M6 bolt that holds the pick-up tube on. If that loosens and falls out the pick-up will blow off the oil pump hench little to no pressure

Trying to think of any other reasons to loose all pressure "all of a sudden".....Thats really it...well maybe the cam retaining plate too.

I hope you are super lucky and the oil pressure sensor is bad. Check that first.

The sensor it's good, I'm thinking is the bolt might fell because the vibration of the new cam plus it was really hard to get it tightened because of the little space. I re-used the stock oil pump, but since I'm going to dig back in there minus well get a new one.

How hard is to remove the oil pan???

Do you actually KNOW its not coming up or are you assuming its not because of 0 oil pressure??? Did you replace the oil pump with that cam install? If so and you messed with the pickup tube most likely you forgot to tighten it. If you know you did it right, and didnt pinch the oring, you have a spun bearing.

If DON'T actually know then first thing I would do is check the oil sensor, or replace it.

I changed the timing chain so I had to remove the oil pump, but the gage seems to work but the oil is not coming up because when i started it it sounded louder and I checked the oil cap and it was not showing oil movement at all.

hopefully it's just a pickup or oring issue or even the pump and not a bearing. IIRC the 2001-02 cars don't spin rod bearings as often as the earlier LS1's.

You don't get 0 oil pressure if you spin a bearing, it will show low but not 0. Don't start it again, figure out whats up. If you start it anymore you will f--- it up.

Its also possible that the plunger for the bypass is sticking. Its very common with these style pumps. I cut the oring changing my cam too and had that problem also. I have also herd that those melling hv pumps can suck a stock oil pan dry. So you might want to look into that.

my opinion the bypass is stuck open on the pump, if you ran the engine longer then a 1min or two with no oil pressure I say you already hurt the bearings, good luck

The only time mine did that is when I was having trouble with cam bearings. A bad rod bearing will have some oil pressure but a bad cam bearing will lite your check guages up and you got 0 oil pressure.

Well, I'll be tearing it apart this weekend, so I'm crossing my fingers to see what it is.

Well I took the timing cover off and everything looks normal the pick up tube it's in place and the bolt as well, I will unbolt the oil pump and the pick up tube tomorrow to see what its going on, while the new pump comes in. Should I remove the cam and inspect it??? It seems good from the outside view.

WHEN YOU GET THE PUMP OFF LOOK AT THE BYPASS VALVE AND SEE IF ITS OPEN AT, if its cracked open at all it will not have pressure, if it looks all good then pull the cam

The bypass was cracked open when I took it off yesterday, but today I looked it again and it snapped back in place by itself. I'm still waiting for the new pump though.

One of my buddies had a similar issue after a cam swap. His cam lobes had some plastic/or goo covering them. Once that broke free it covered the mesh on his pick up tube resulting in no oil pressure.

just trying to give some ideas.
